I installed a D44 last winter in the front of my 75.. Everything is fine, but I have lost a bit of turning radius.. The tie rod is limited by the diff cover.. So I am considering doing a high steer to maybe gain some more clearance..

My question is : Does the stock 75 steering box have a turning limit?? Other than removing the drag link and checking, I thought I'd ask first before proceeding .

I suppose your talking about the manual Saginaw box.
It turns about 6-1/2 rotations from full left to full right.
The stock CJ manual Saginaw provides a 24/1 mechanical advantage.
Correct Power Saginaw for CJ's turns about 4-1/4 turns from lock to lock.

The pitman arm clocking position is predetermined by the "blind" shaft splines.

It was shared on another thread that the front chevy covers have a flat for tie rod clearance where the dodges and fords are rounded. Might compare what you have to them.

Hard to see it but here it is

I have one of those I swapped the OEM cover for.. The tie rod is almost kissing the cover at full lock.. I was just thinking of how to get a bit more turning radius out of it.. I just may give up and live with it..
