Can anyone tell me the year/model or other helpful info of the windshield frame I have om my jeep? The basic jeep is a 1953 M38A1, but I substituted a different windshield, one with the motor and wipers mounted at the bottom instead of 2 vacuum motors at the top. I got the windshield in a parts swap but I don't know any details other than it fits. I need a few parts - the retaining clips which hold the actuating arms to the motor and wipers, and the round rubber/plastic covers which go on the inside of the frame to cover the openings where those arms attach. The only diagrams I have found online show the motor on the inside of the frame rather than the outside.

    Many thanks,

If the glass is arched on top it's a '68-'75 windshield frame. If the glass opening is flat on top it's a late '67-'68 windshield frame. Other than the glass and opening they use the same parts. Wiper motor and linkage are unique to this year although a later motor can be adapted. These will accept the '55-'75 CJ-5 hard and soft tops.

Thanks. I appreciate the help. I'm thinking the late 67-68 because the diagrams of the 68-75 don't show the motor on the outside. At least the ones I have seen. Can you direct to a source for the parts I need?

Looks just like the windshield frame on my '72 CJ5. My wiper motor is on the outside as well; although mine has the metal cover installed whereas I see yours does not. Great looking Jeep, by the way.

Those clips might be hard to find from vendors.
    The Jeep p/n was 957868.
But try around and see what you can find.

It wasn't until 1976 that the motor was moved to the inside.

The late '67-'75 with bottom mount wipers all had the motor just like yours. As was mentioned the stamped steel cover is missing from yours. In '76 up the wiper motor was on the bottom but mounted inside the vehicle. Most likely the images you have been seeing.

Thanks guys. I'll see what I can track down. The cover for the motor isn't missing - it just wasn't installed in that picture. Here's a picture with the motor cover in place.
