So... I currently own a 64' cj5. It's too small for my growing family and I now have my sights set on either a 6 or 8 cj. My question is, how do I asses the value of this old girl. She's built for going slow. She still only has about 12,000 original miles on it. Dual tanks, new seats, York air compressor and blah blah. The hurricane 4 with the t-98A and Dana 18. 27 front and 44 rear with 5.38. It has body damage but still very clean. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Only way I know to assess the value is to see what others are going for in your area.

I had a 65 Tuxedo Park with a V-6 and 17,xxx on it. I sold it about 4 years ago for $3,750. I think you find the buyer and if you are ok with the price you sell. Sounds rather dorky to say it that way but it's true.

Yes Mark and in my opinion you sold way to cheap on that Tux. Even with the off color fender!

That Tux is easily a $7-8K Jeep around here.

Assessing value of an old Jeep is more of an art than a science. I've seen asking prices for pristine classics north of $20K but that was for totally restored and perfect condition. My only advice is to start out high and see how many tire kickers you get. You can always come down on the price.

I'd advertise in the coastal beach communities, you'll get top dollar there oppose to the central valley. More discretionary spending money near the coastal areas.
