Super Traxion Tires (7.00 x 15)

I have to restore me a flattie now.

 

I thought I could help you a bit so I shuffled out to the back. I have 5 Super Traction King 7.00 15's. Directional treads and studs. I think I'm going to try them on my 3B this winter. The 10.50x31's really suck in the snow and on ice. Part of this could be the V6 and LS rear.
All of that and I don't have a CJ5 handy to mount them on for a picture.

 

I put on 7.00X15 Power King Extra Traction tires in 3/13. They are bias ply and flat spot for 2 to 3 miles depending on how cold it is. This is a '64 CJ5. The comparison is a 31X10.50X15.

 

Well obviously I did not get pictures posted. I have never had much luck with posting pictures. The 7.00X15 tires look good on our CJ5 and have worked well in the Black hills and in the mountains around Nathrop, CO.

 

For some reason I decided to swap my Kelly Springfield 31X10,50s for the 7.00 15's today. It didn't turn out to be as easy as a person may have thought. I could only get 2 tires in the back of the 3B on top of the oversized tool box. hauling 2 tires in a wheelbarrow doesn't work as well as you would think, the snow packed road didn't help either.
So we got everything mounted up, aired up and 2 tires in the rear. My neighbor rolled one of the tires over to my house. I put the other on the hood of my B. 3B's aren't known for good visability over the hood, 11 inches of tire doesn't help either.
I went out to take a picture about an hour ago, one tire was already about half flat. Something to do tomorrow I suppose.

 

Lots of bias ply tires have the flat spotting problem. Radials don't do that. They also drive a lot better on the street.

 

Garage gnome, are those Cutlass hubs?! If so, I NEED to know where you got the inner decals from? THANKS!

Nope, it had something to do with the grass stuck between the tire and rim. The CJ6 these came off of sat in a field for a few years. On the positive side, all of the guys at the tire shop really enjoyed looking at my Jeep.
I was out talking to the guys, mostly making sure they realized that the left side of the Jeep has left handed threads on the wheels.
Yep, green caps, nitrogen filled tires. Preassure sensing stems, GM has a sort if domed metal valve cap, everybody else uses a gray cap. They also appeared to be slightly smaller than a standard Schrader size.
Monday afternoon seems to be the wrong time to go to the tire shop.

At -40C (-40F) radial AND bias ply will develop a flat spot assuming you can get your jeep to move at all.
