Even the wiper motor cover has part-out value...

Good list from Nick. Gas tank skid plate has value. Gas filler neck (100% unobtainium). Tail lights (good ones are very scarce). Lots of scarce and easily sold parts on this Jeep.

    Thats a treasure trove.
I see at least a half dozen parts I had a tough time finding for mine.

X2. It really is a pain to find parts for intermediate's, many of which were only used on for those few years of production. It would be a real shame to send her off to be crushed.

I've come to the point where i buy these jeeps for a couple parts i want for my other jeeps and part out the rest to fund my jeep projects cause i'm only 15 and dont have a job yet so this is what pays for fixing/semi-restoring my 66cj5 and 53cj3B hahahaha

Anyone know if that hood fits a '58 CJ5? Or did they grow larger by AM days?

Hoods were stretched 5 inches in 72 IIRC.

I need the skid plate for my '75, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. As everyone has said, and it seems you've decided to do, I think parting it out is a better way to go and you can get your money out of it pretty easily. If you were nearby I'd buy the 232/3-speed as a spare or to re-power my Comanche with. (Yeah, I know - I could have a 4.0 with quite a bit less effort in adapting it. But I like the old I-6's and the simplicity of a carb. and one vacuum line is appealing. :) )

Scrap/buy a car in Missouri with no title is a class A misdemeanor. Can get you a year in the county jail.

I would part it out then scrap the rest. I bought 3 intermediate CJ-6s and did just that. I paid $800 for one with a clean title and good powertrain, $750 for one with a fiberglass tub and almost everything that goes above the frame plus a truckload of parts, and $600 for one with a good frame, axles, suspension, wheels and tires. I sold the t18/d20, axles, grille, and rotted out frame then scrapped the rotted tub on the first one. I ended up with $900 plus a good motor and title. I sold off all the extra parts from the tub donor and the powertrain from the frame donor for $650. I picked up a pair of fenders, a tranny, and a transfer case for $500 and now only have $1100 in a nearly whole jeep.

If you have the room to part out, its definitely worth it. I had no problem selling off the intermediate cj parts pretty quickly. Just price reasonably and they will go pretty quick. When the good stuff is gone scrap the rest for gas money.

Scrap it. Older Jeep parts are hard to find.

This makes no sense to me. Send hard to find parts to scrap vs. parting it out and getting those hard to find parts in the hands of people that can use them?
