I had to remove the factory drawbar setup from the 75 frame I used for my build because of my HD greasable shackles. I want to put it up for sale but want to give buyers accurate info. I know it will fit 72-75 and will not fit 76 up. Will a 75 drawbar fit 71 and older? It seems that the frames are the same width but I wasn't sure. I searched but found no pertinent results.

I have the drawbar with 2 brackets that bolt to the frame ends, 2 brackets that run to the frame sides, and the triangular reinforcement plate that goes on the driver's side rear between the outside of the frame and the rear crossmember. Is that all all there is supposed to be?

    Thanks

    Bob

These will fit the '72-'75 as you noted but also the '70-'71 CJ's with rear fuel tank. They will "fit" '55-'75 but will not be period correct for CJ's with the underseat fuel tank. I'm not sure but it's possible a few holes may need drilled in the frame for the side support plates on the earlier Jeeps. These seem to be in demand occasionally by the restoration crowd.

There were two styles of draw bar by 1975. The original type (5353030) has four vertical bars between the cross member and the draw bar, and can accept a pintle hook. The later type (5354067) has two vertical bars and no place for a pintle hook. Sounds like what you have is the later type. Nick is right, it will fit any CJ with the rear tank, but it's only correct for the '74-75 era.

The earlier type has a lot more parts, including a reinforcement that fits inside the frame, and a plate to mount the pintle hook on.

The '72-'75 drawbar is also desirable for earlier CJ's if you want to convert to the rear tank and keep the factory style drawbar. The earlier ones have 2 braces that go right through the area where the tank mounts. The newer one has outside the frame braces like this-

Mine is the later style same as the one shown in the pic above. I would of kept it but it blocked the upper grease fitting on my aftermarket shackles. Thanks for the info on everything. As soon as I get a chance I will list it in the classifieds.
