Okay I know a few of you will want to know.
The dolly was built by hand in about 20 minutes, it took longer to drive to town to get parts.
Total project costs about $85 plus nails and screws.
    You will need 6x 2x4x8', 4 casters, nails/screws.
I built it 16" ish inches off the ground so I can still use a creeper seat to work on it.
Sizes: 5.5 feet long, 3 Feet wide. top run is 3 feet, fallowed by next step at 2 feet. the heights are 7" and two at 12" the casters are 5" and over all height at about 6" plus. the weight cap at the casters are 350 lbs each. I think they would be fine with a loaded tub, but if i can lift it, i figure the casters will be fine. It was fast and i know this will not be the last jeep, so it should last years and projects to come. With it also only being 16"ish tall, I can "hide" it easily till the next time.

Saturday Morning headed to Chic Town to pick up a new to me 304 and maybe a trans for the postal. It sounded carb to pan and w.p. to yoke. If it is great, if not the price is right and it has "40,000 miles" and in air controlled storage since 1996. So hopefully i can make it home with out being mugged.

Well I made it home after some hic-ups. When I got there the neighbor told me the guy got home after 5 am. When his other neighbor finally got him awake, I was told that its going to take a while, come to find out he had a bender the night before and did not get ready for my visit. So after dragging the cherry picker over, he tells me the engine is still in his basement, under two other engines. So the wam bam thanks and go turned into a hour ordeal and good old farmer thinking/engineering. When I got home I pulled the pan 1st. Found some shinny flakes in the pick-up screen. Put the pan in the parts cleaner and kept looking for where it came from. Pulled all tin off the block, looks pretty good. When I tried to pull the harm balancer found it tight and stripped out my puller. I will have to pull one of the truck and try Sunday. I think i may be able to strip it and get it back together (depending on timing chain) and ready for paint. Over all i would call it a ok buy, it was not as described, missing alot of bolts, he was not ready by any means, he did not have the torque converter or yoke, but i think it is because he "gave me the trans for the troubles." Which when we all got done he started to back pedal on. I would say it was a typical trip to chic town for me. Of all my trips to that town, every one has had issues, not my favorite town. There will be a time that he is ready to sell, at that point I might go back to buy his cores, but i did not see anything that would bring great value. He had 5 AMX cars but i could only see one for sure was road worthy. the rest were in some state of "restoration."

Update from last weekend. I did get everything cleaned up, blasted, and put back together for my liking for a weekend work. It was not quite ready for paint like i had like to see but still a good weekend worth done.

Now on to this weekend, I got it all ready for paint. Etched very heavy because of not stripping the block. I think two thick layers. Sealed it and then this morning found some paint and all done. I know it was not a AMC color for the block but it was in the cabinet and has lots of mica. For those that want to know the color was a "mess up" so there is no code and one of a kind. I was able to put two layers on and over all have about 12 oz of paint out of the qrt can. so plenty to do anther. This afternoon i had a chance to pull the 727 apart. I am very glad that i did! I noticed a water line in the rust and the pump was/is froze up. I am not familiar with 727, but am very willing to learn and will be doing this one. the inside was a disaster for a "drop in" trans. Not so much milky as water sitting on top, and the "fudge style head" in the pan. If i would have tried it, very bad things would have happened. But everything cleaned nice and i think a seal kit will do it.
So of the pics listed below our mine and then for laughs my son also took some.

My son took the last two photos. Last is me cleaning out the paint gun.

Also finished hand sanding the "tub" now its pretty much ready for the baster. I hope with in two weeks to have some etch on the tub.

I like the color. Is it as blue as it looks?

my phone doesn't do it justice, it is darker blue and deep with all the mica. Its not AMC colors but very deep and not other makes either, so I am happy.

Sunday i bolted the engine to the 727 and lined up on the frame. It was made clear at that point that the mounts i have will not work. So now i am waiting for the new mounts. This next weekend i hope to weight the body and get the frame ready for the engine.

    Thanks /\/\
Not much to show you this weekend. I had a body friend come over this weekend and get the inside ready for paint. He gave a hard scuff, finished getting the bed liner off and now is ready for etching. The big part of this weekend was getting the CJ5 ready for the show in sept. Got it dug out, washed and he also buffed it for me. I had to pull the fuel tank and figure out why it would not prime. I never did figure it out. but it runs fine now. I am using VP racing fuel in it. It runs great and smells exciting. It did liven up the torque band. Today after all day yesterday out in the heat, I took it easy and made 3 batches of beer. (15 gal total) Nex weekend being labor day, it should have the trans together, frame painted, and hopefully the inside of the tub painted.
    have a safe week everybody.

Forgot to load a couple more pictures.
frame painted the AMC black, but top coat not the frame black.
The top coat has a lot of mica in it for a 68/69 color. I was surprised to see any in it. camera phone doesn't do justice
    [IMG][IMG]
I also clear coated the engine. It did not seem to have much luster, it must have been base clear paint and mis marked.
And one last picture of the 727 mostly put back together, just needs front seals and valve body out back in.[IMG]
