just checking ,so one smaller ball goes under the spring and T under the venuri cluster ........... and another one goes under the accel pump /spring ?is that one a small or big ball? there was a big ball in mine but it looked like it was jamed.had to shoot it out backwards with compressed air. almost took me eye out. my rochester carb book shows no ball under the acc.pump.

Yes, large ball in the acc. pump well. You'll have little/ no pump shot without it.

Whoa guys. Are you very sure of this? My 2G carb did have the big ball under the accel pump and it was the wrong one according to my rebuild kit. The ball has to be able to move. If you look down into the opening real close (acc pump journal) you will see a smaller hole for the small ball. The light spring that goes below the acc-pump will hold the small ball from jumping out. The install inst clearly stated the big ball under the "T" and small ball under the accel-pump.. So which is it?

the small ball does fit in there very nice ,in the bottom of the pump well
,the big ball ,,,,,, is just to big and gets stuck with the acc return spring right on top of it. there is no movement.
in my official Rochester book there is NO ball ! under to pump cause the ball/spring/T , under the ventri cluster is doing the same job,,,,,,HELP!?

really the question is do you need both balls (insert DonX joke here)

just cause the kit comes with them doesn't mean they both get used. it's the same passage I think.I don't think the big ball will fit it the other hole ,with the T and spring.I'm going to take it apart again .

You need both balls (pun intended) as when the pump is on the up stroke, the big ball blocks air from coming in which causes fuel to be sucked into the pump reservoir. As the pump goes down, the small ball under the pump blocks passage back to the float bowl and diverts fuel up through the bottom of the big ball passage and on out the venturi.

Thought this was hashed out 2-1/2 years ago but good to bring it up again because some people don't use the search. It will probably help someone today or next week. Tnx for resurrection.

I just went through this. Small Al ball in accelerator pump. Large steel ball under spring and T lock in the Venturi cluster.
