Windshield Tie Down Strap '72 CJ5

    For the life of me I can not work out how the tiedown strap or footman loop is suppose to attach to the windshield. The rear view mirror looks like the one in the 1972 parts diagram. But the parts diagram also shows a foot man loop and tie down strap. Any one have a photo of how they attached the strap?

    no photo but the older window frame ive got for parts has the mirror(looks just like yours) slightly offset to the drivers side and the footman loop in the center.

    Interesting, my windshield frame only has holes in the center for the mirror. Then two sets of holes to the left and right that mate up to the visors.


    Ill double check today.

    would the footman loop fit on the screws for the mirror? cant say mine is original

    My windshield has the same rear view mirror. The footman loop on mine is to the side of the mirror on the inside, not on the outer edge where your holes are.

    My 74 originally had a canvas loop with a buckle on it hanging on the windshield loop by the mirror for years before it fell off. Never used it as I always had a soft top on.
