75 low back seats. What can you tell me about them?

My jeep tub came with a nice pair of stock 75 CJ-6 low back bucket seats. They have the brackets still attached to them and they have no rips or tears that I can see. I am not going to use them and I need the storage space to work on other parts so I have decided to sell them. They were not mounted when I got them so I have no way to know if the brackets are complete. Is there is just the main bracket setup that bolts to the tub under each seat or are there other parts? What is a decent set of 37 year old black vinyl seats worth? Will these fit only 72-75 or will they fit 71 and older CJ5/6?

    Thanks

    Bob

The '75 driver's side bracket will only fit intermediates, '72-75. The passenger side bracket will work for any CJ-5 1975 or earlier, but is only correct for late 60s through '75. The seats will fit late 60s through '75, but the fabric is only right for intermediates.

Show us a picture of what you have and we can tell you how complete and in what condition they are. Or you can look at pictures of my Jeep here https://www.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/~reese/ResizedJeepIPics/ and you can try to figure it out yourself.

The original buckets are nice seats, and would be much preferred over similar aftermarket seats. Plus, the passenger seat folds and tumble, which is an asset when accessing the toolbox. Condition is important, because recovering them will cost a few hundred dollars.

Mine look just like the ones in your pics so I think they are all there. I stored them up in the rafters of my shed so they would not get damaged and I am close to being able to get them down. I am selling off all the extra items so I have some room to work on stuff and organize parts I am keeping. I have to get rid of as much as I can as doing a frame off on an 11x18 outdoor concrete pad with an 11x8 storage shed is proving to be challenging. I hope to have some pictures in a few days. I just wanted to get all the right info so I don't mislead a buyer looking for the correct parts.

    Thanks

I opted to keep my brackets and sell my original front low backs and rear bench. They were in good shape with only a couple dry rot tears on the fronts from getting in and out. The vinyl was stiff and I didn't want to pay the money to have them repadded and reupholstered. The frames would also have needed a good derusting and painting. I bought new low back smittybilts and am very happy with them. I had to do some work to get them to fit the original brackets, but they work great. Even though the passenger seat doesn't tumble, it still raises forward on the bracket and doesn't fall back while resting against the windshield.

I sold all 3 seats, drivers slider, and passenger latch for $100.

I have a fiberglass tub and I am going to be using custom brackets to move the drivers seat way back (I'm 6'5") so I have no need for any of the original brackets. I am going to fab something similar to the brackets 4wd sells minus the vertical portion at the rear. I am going to use seats with integrated shoulder belts as I am not running a cage and I don't care for lap belts.

Well I finally got to my seats. Unfortunately storing them in the rafters of my shed in the NC heat for the last couple of years was not a good idea. A couple of the seams split right at the piping and then I dropped the passenger side bracket on one and poked a hole in it. I would guess they probably have very little value now but here are the pics anyways. I am going to list them on the for sale forum here and if someone could tell me what an appropriate value to ask for, I would appreciate it.

Don't sweat it too much - that's not the original fabric. They've been recovered with slip covers.

See if you can find a local buyer. Shipping will be expensive. But they are pretty desirable otherwise.

Do you still have the seats? I am restoring a 75 cj5 and that is about all I lack.
