I am trying to figure out how to get a post 76 column into a pre 76 CJ6 tub. I am trying to adapt the brackets to the tub. Is there anyone that has picts of what the dash looks like behind the dash?

I think I will have to fab the brackets up since the whole column is different. But I can't find any picts on the internet of what the dash looks like behind the dash.

What I need is a pict of the stuff as it looks just as if you unscrewed the dash and pulled it straight off. Or a diagram. Or a drawing.

    Thanks.............

Two of the dash bolts hold the upper pedal bracket to the dash behind the dashboard. The column bracket bolts to the pedal bracket.

Just for clarification I was talking about the '76 and newer pedals/column.

Thanks guys. I am putting a 76+ pedals and tilt comumn into a CJ6 'glass tub that I think had pre 76 stuff in it before. I was in bed last night an it occured to me I need to a pict of the post 76 fire wall and I'll have to change some holes. The link to nwedgar's picts helped a bunch. I also figured out I can't use the stock bracket that mounts the top front edge of the pedal bracket to the backside of the dash.

I guess I'll look for write ups similar to what is linked above. Nwedgar, you would not happen to have measurements for size and location of the holes would you?

How do you make the later pedals work with the shape of the earlier floor? I had a column and a set of pedals from a 78 and scratched my head repeatedly holding them up to my 74 and it just didn't look like the pedals would work at all without hitting the floor pan long before they engaged the brakes/clutch. So I used all my original parts. I think you'd either have to cut and reweld the pedals or heat and bend them to new shapes to make them work.

I'll take a look at the archives for dimensions. If I can't find it I'll just re-measure to the best that I can, although I'm not sure it will match up to your fiberglas tub exactly.

Edited to add...I believe there are some measurements in the link above...stating, "The measurements that I'm working from are...from the bottom of the hood drip rail to the top of the master cylinder hole is slightly less than 3 1/4 inches (essentially the red arrows)...from the bottom of the brake master cylinder hole to the top of the steering column hole is about 2 1/2 inches...from the top to the bottom of the steering column hole it is about 4 3/4 inches."

I remember temporarily mounting the steering column brace, then holding up the pedals to where they will be and marking the firewall. I then took a dowl and put it in place of where the steering column would go so that I could approximate the slope and approximate intersection with the firewall. That told me about where to drill for each of the holes needed, one for master brake and one for steering column. The addage, measure twice cut once is a big one here.

If the toe board slope of the fiberglas floor matches the steel, then you will have to take a wedge out of the clutch pedal, and re-weld. I'll send you a closeup of mine when I can. Otherwise the clutch pedal will hit the floor before the clutch is allowed to disengage.

The pic makes it look like it's crooked...it's not...

No problem cutting and rewelding the arms. What is the throw length of the stock pedals? I read 8" someplace but I was not clear if that was correct for the intemediate or not. It said from the back of the clutch pedal to the floor needs to be the 8". I'm also going to use a hydro clutch and new brake lines to a booster so I can really mount them anyplace within reason.

This is becomming a big fabrication project to get the jeep to go, steer and stop.

I hear that on the fabrication piece...I told myself that I wouldn't do it again. But now that I have it I like it.

I also have hydro clutch. Not sure about the throw.
