    can 31x10.5 safely fit on these stock 15in wheels?

    Look at tirerack.com for examples of the size you want. The manufacturers will tell you the recommended wheel width for each tire. Or ask Interco.

    I'm thinking 7:00 x 15 would be just right for stock wheels.

    They put 33x12.50's on 8" wheels every day. So I don't see a problem with 10.50's on 6" wheels. I ran 11.50's on 7" wheels for years on my XJ with no problems.
