dana 27-dana 30 gear swap

    Can I swap my dana 27 carrier,ring & pinion,(4.27),into a dana 30? I was thinking I may have to retain the dana 30's side gears, but I'm not sure. I would like the disk brakes,I just cant afford new gears.

    They are not interchangeable. Now it is possible to find a Dana 30 with 4.27 gears.

    Yes, 4.27 was the optional ratio for the CJ-5 and CJ-6 '72 through '75. They will have drum brakes. From '76 on, the best you can do is 4.10, and most are 3.54 or less.
