Will a 15x7 wheel with a 4inch back spacing with a p235/75R15 tire fit on a factory spare tire carrier? Or will I have to make a custom mount?

You may have to answer your own question on this one.

If you are talking about the passenger side mount, I wouldn't. I don't think it will handle the weight.

A swing away mounted to the rear bumper (or cross-member in my case) would be a better bet.

When I bought my cj6 it had 235/75r15 tires and the spare hug off the passenger side as factory, no issues while I used the jeep........ changed to larger tire and had to change carrier location

Ok cool but I'm still not sure if a 15x7 inch wheel with a 4inch back spacing is to deep for a factory spare tire carrier

Quick fix might be as easy as longer or shorter studs/bolts on the carrier, whichever would suit the offset you choose.

Another point to check for - I put oversize wheels and tires on my 1957. The spare rubs on the right rear tire at times, when the suspension twists a certain amount.

The most this jeep is going to be offroad is when its moving the Hobie cat from the front to the backyard. Its mainly going to stay on the pavement so I'm not really to worried about tire rub.
