So a few weeks ago I was trailing through my ranch. Drive through a waterhole deep enough to get some water in the floor boards. After about ten minutes of driving my jeep died out and has not started since. It was not missing or running bad at all prior to stalling. I have a 134 in great condition.it has electronic ignition good plugs and wires. I have power to the coil and to distributor. I have installed a new ignition controll mod from walcks. And tried three separate coils. I ran a jumper from - side of coil to ground with a direct 12v on pos side and inconsistently get a very slight spark. Almost too small to even see in the dark
Even tried an excell racing coil an nothing has changed. I am at all ends with this. I know it has to be right in front of me but I can't see it. Even had an elec tech buddy take a look. He is puzzled too. Any help would be nice. I figured maybe the pick up. But I should see spark prior to the dist. From the coil direct.

Not sure of the brand. I bought this whole setup from walcks about two years ago and has worked flawless. I got the package with the entire distributor from gears to cap. And I don't know of it is brand specific but it has the faux lube port on the side.

Measure the voltage at the coils + terminal with the coil's negative terminal jumpered to ground & with it open. If the voltage drops way down with the negatve grounded then you have a high resistance somewheres between the ignition switch & the coil- most likely the resister is you use one.

So how are you making and breaking the coil circuit to get the spark? The coil requires a collapsing field to cause secondary high voltage spark.

Run a jumper to the hot side of the battery, and them use the ground wire on the coil to make and break your circuit.

It should spark when you break the circuit with the ground wire.

This is what I have been doing but I have not been able to get results. Even using multiple coils. I get such a small spark it is barely visable. In past experiences I would think you should be able to see the spark no problem. Still confused

Shows 12.66 not on load and drops to around 12.3 while touching - jumper to neg bat terminal.

    Okay, not the battery then.

" inconsistently get a very slight spark"

How are you viewing the spark - could it be a bad spark plug? You could try out all the test components (one-by-one) in another set up or vehicle, until they are all "known good."
