gotcha, so does the path of the oil go through the lifters then to the rocker arms, or is it a totaly different stream of oil for the lifters and the rockers.........

If my feeble memory recalls, if you have solid push-rods the oil comes up on the end rocker shaft tower and feeds the rocker shaft. Oil feeds cam, then lifters, than works it's way up to the rocker shaft. Not much oil is required up top, just enough to coat the moving parts.

Oil comes up the towers - originally, mine had the back ones blocked (return) to keep some extra oil up there. When I had some work done, they got reversed and ended up with low oil up top till I figured it out (lots of the parts were for a race rig - Pikes Peak Hill Climb).

Baffle for the PCV, keeps it from sucking too much oil.

so if the cam bearings are offf a lil bit they would keep oil from getting to the drivers side rockers, if this is the case i guess ia gotta pull it apart again, but i REALLY dont want to if i dont have to, :)

Not to sound like a d$#k but before you go pulling anything apart are you absolutely, positively sure it is in fact a lifter/rocker valve noise at all? Been following this since last year over at the JCCA as well and so far I've read nothing that says how you've come to the conclusion that the noise is in the valve train.

no dickieness percieved, but no i am not absolutly positively sure, i am just going on what i see and hear, and i have had several other people look at it and listen to it, and nobody seems to think its anything different, but that doesnt mean it is or isnt. thats the propblem i dont know what the noise is or whats causeing it. to me it seems to be coming from the rocker area and there seems to be a lack of oil up there, i know its quieter when i have the valve covers on.....i will try to get a video of it, but the problem is that my exhaust is so loud that the sound in the recordings on my old phone were always distorted, i have a new phone now so i will give it a try, and try to post it up here for ya'll

Tried using a mechanic's stethoscope? Or a wooden dowel, or a piece of tubing up to one ear, to locate the source of the noise? That can help a whole lot to hear exactly what and where things are going on.

I am working on my dauntless right now and all you need to do to see if you have pressure to the rocker shaft is pull off the rocker assembly on the side in question, disconnect the hot wire to distributor so it won't start, and turn the motor over for a few seconds. If you have oil pressure up there, you will know it. I suggest laying a shop towel over the oil outlet or it will squirt oil all over your shop. Just did this a couple of hours ago. I just finished a rebuild on mine and wanted to see if it was oiling the top side. Like someone said, there isn't much oil up there. On mine, I am only getting oil from the front port, the rear is blocked, and you also should make sure the oil holes in your rockers line up with the oil holes in your rocker shaft if you took it all apart. After looking at the rockers, I can see why not much oil comes out. Every thing is pretty tight. Not like the old chevy motors I am used to working on. They would squirt oil everywhere.

I don't know if this is helpful but I had the same problem after I rebuilt my 225. I had the machine shop put in hardened exhaust seats while doing the heads, but they did not check their work and 3 of the seats were out of spec - positioned to high, as a result there was a lot of chatter. Since the rocker arms are not adjustable, I resolved this with adjustable push rods.

Pull the valve cover and start it. Put some pressure on each rocker arm, on the push rod side, one by one, with your thumb. You should hear the noise change/ increase with downward pressure. Should help decipher where the noise is coming from.

no i didnt, per comp cams instructions......my friend also thought this was wierd.......

as for the "put pressure on push rod side of rocker" it made no differance in the noise, i actually got a video of it running (new phone made a huge differance in sound andvideo quality, lol), i will try to get posted up now......

Uhmm, just an off the wall thought cause I can't see them that well but I think there's something not quite right about your valve springs, #1 exhaust and #3 intake and exhaust.

My hearing is pretty poor but to me it sounds like a loose spark plug or an exhaust leak..
