If anybody has a bare frame with stock 225 mounts if they could measure across the width of the frame from center of bolt hole to center of the other bolt hole...I am coming up with 17 inches and want to make sure thats close. Thanks mucho

Thanks but its going to be tough with the engine in the way...I will clarify my original post to say bare frame...long story short I bought a bare frame and it has what look like buick v6 mounts welded in already but I wanted to be sure...thanks for the try though

I have the 231 out of my CJ right now. Would the dimension be the same? I can measure it for you if so.

    Since the left side is slotted I measure 14 3/8 - 15 1/8"

Could be they are V8 mounts. And could be they are Ford instead of Chevy, or Buick.

Just measured my bare frame with factory mounts and get 15 1/4" center of slotted hole to center of round hole on the front side of the mounts. Might be around 1/16" variation.

Those are stock v-6 cj mounts. I'm thinking the flange area where they were originally welded to the frame are cut off? If so they would sit wider apart. If not check and see if the frame is spread in that area

    Nick,
I just checked the frame and its not spread as I get 29.25 od or close to it...but I did look closely and you can see where they cut the flange off that would normally space it out from the frame...crap I refuse to cut these out because they really welded then in there good..I am betting a sbc will fit in there but I will try and verify that..thanks

Ok to bring this back...is spacing the block mounts out to make up the couple inch difference in width a really bad idea?

Just measured my bare frame and my 71 mounts are 14.75" from the center of the slotted hole to the center of the other hole.

And like Nick said, those mounts are missing the flanged area. Someone probably cut those mounts off another frame and mounted them into the current frame.

Let me know if you need any other measurements :)

You might consider a spacer block both sides to go between motor mount and block.
