    Hello-
Is it normal to have to double clutch 1st gear with a Jeep t18 transmission while still moving? It does not grind at a dead stop, but it will if I am moving. Any ideas? Thank You!!

No it's not unusual. As mentioned 1st and reverse are not synchronized. Some of the shifter knobs show the shift pattern as L-1-2-3.

A '76 will have the close-ratio T-18, with a 4.02:1 1st gear. Not terribly low. Combine that with the standard 3.54:1 axle ratio in 1976 and tall tires, and you may be tempted to start off in 1st gear.
