Not sure if this is the correct forum...but I'm 46 yrs.old. Like most of us have always fooled with something that runs on gasoline.I have an electric fuel pump that pushes gas from under seat tank,to carb.Between rusty tank, and dirty can gas.I've had issues with running last couple days. The other night,it quit running. The same drill, jump under Jeep, bang around, remove filter (on my last one) well ..I fold over, and clamp the rubber hose,w/vise grips, then remove the inlet filter. This time GAS ran down my arm (as usual),but dropped into my ear..I've had gas in eyes, nose, mouth.BUT this went all the way into my ear.I've never heard of this.It BURNED.blinding, staggering around, praying out loud, felt like jaw was broke PAIN.for close to 3 hours.Luckily my brother was able to run to top of hill to get water.I flushed my ear over 4 hours.(Also,he was able to fix my Jeep enough to get it off the road and up to our mom's.And drive me home)THANKS Aaron!!! This was the worst pain I've experienced in a long time.I don't want it to happen to anybody. So please be careful laying under your ?????? working on gas lines etc.I know this sounds silly, but it was CRAZY pain, for LONG time.DON'T GET GASOLINE IN YOUR EAR!!!

Ouch, and hope there will not be any damage to your ear. Have done what you did many times and have come close to the same thing (crimping fuel line) (fuel running down my arm) and have had to remove my shirt and temporarily wash of the gas and put on clean shirt.

    Thanks,
Yeah..that's just it, I've done it a bunch of times and never considered getting gas in my ear.Never heard of it.And we know that if it gets in our eyes a little,it burns some, but not that big of a deal.If someone had told me "gas in your ear burns",I wouldn't have had any idea how BAD.The scary thing with my ear,was that it was debilitating,I could barely see,and the pain just kept increasing.I didn't have a bottle of water (I'll always carry a bottle of clean water from now on) to flush my ear with, and my Jeep was along the road with my tools all laying out,my gun was in the back.I was afraid to leave it like that while I tried to get to water.Thank God my brother came up there.I like to think I can handle most situations on my own. This was a crazy experience.

Thanks for the warning, I've done exactly what you've done many times and had gas running down my arm and across my back (it will eat through clothing, by the way.) But never got it in my ear and would never have thought twice about it, so thanks.

It is a sign of a true Jeep man, though, that in amidst of telling us about your severe pain, you took time out to let us know the Jeep was OK. :)

Had that happen to my Dad about 30 years ago. Going up the Cajon pass, our motorhome vapor locked (we didn't know it at the time). He said it was very, very painful. I remember as a kid, pouring water in his ear to float the gas out.

yeah it burns like crazy. if it ever happens again put a couple drops of baby oil in your ear. it sounds weird but it instantly takes the burn away. it happened to my dad. weirdest thing is, it was my grandma that knew what to do.
