    Thanks for the compliments guys.
In allot of the rubicon pics that FinoCJ posted my front marker lights are on. I finally got around to chasing down the issue last night. Turns out that somewhere between South Lake Tahoe and Loon Lake the flasher unit for my hazard lights failed. This failure caused the front parking lights to come on anytime I pushed on the brake. Jonah once pulled over because he thought I was signaling him with the lights.....

Next upgrade: Hand throttle aka 3rd foot. I got this idea from FinoCJ while on the rubicon trip. James was able to use the hand throttle to keep his engine from stalling when he needed to operate the gas, brake and clutch all at the same time.
I mean I never needed one of these things until I saw his.......
This is a Terraflex unit designed to be used on the newer straight 6 engines. I adapted it to use on my V6 with Mc2100 carb.

Looks good...I had to chase some electrical issues after the rubico as well...had a bad wire connection at the ignition switch that caused the voltmeter to read zero and the reverse lights to stop working.

I did install the teraflex kit back in the time, i love it.....when i change to tbi injection i just didn't install on it....but never need it since i'm tbi and my engine is hard to stall on low rpm's.

    Lifted this idea from Tomtom.....
I like to use my roof basket for coast trips, limited wheeling camping ect...... but for heavy wheeling it is just too much weight up high and allows my wife to bring along too much crap......... Being able to run without the roof basket will allow me to carry my canoe on the cross bars into my local alpine lakes.
One of the big items in the basket was a super lite folding table. It is not practical to carry down in the jeep, so for heavy wheeling trips it has to stay home.
My brother scored me a 14"x24" -1/16" rem of stainless and we broke it in his press brake at work. The shelf ended up a little bit heavier than I hoped, but it is strong enough to lean on.

So it just wedges between body and rollbar flange?

I need to make me one of those. I remember seeing Tomtom's and thinking that I need it back then.

    More post Rubicon repairs.
Scott Milliner and Colojeepguy also have this current hat channel issue. Here is my quick but sturdy repair.
This is the right front body mount area under the passenger footwell.

First I wire wheeled up the area, then welded up anything and everything that I could.

This started out as 1/16" x 1-1/2" angle iron. I cut one side off to 3/4" tall.

All welded up. Not super pretty, but there's not much you can really do with the tub installed.

Body mount installed and everything buttoned up. Goes without saying..... but its solid! No more body squeak when rocking the jeep side to side!

Here are the results of the thread: 33x10.5's Vs 33x12.50's Help Me Choose
I picked up these "trail shoes". I love my old duratracs but for real wheeling they were just too small. The new 33's netted me 2" of ground clearance.

The tires ride nice and smooth but I'm not sure about the look of the wheels....... Kinda missing that "old jeep" look.......

I like it! the 33s look right...and the wheels actually work ok on your rig with the aluminium sliders and bumpers etc....I'd keep it as is since I think you have this as a trail only set-up....Off trail, with the granny 4speed the larger tire won't be noticeable in terms of engine performance, but I definitely noticed a change going from 31-33s for street driving, even with 4.88s. Its a bit more sluggish - maybe a good reason to keep to 31s for DD use? Otherwise, swap those 33s onto the mag slots and use them all the time - on and off trail.

I'm keeping the 31's for now. They work great around town and for most of what I use the jeep for. The 33's will go on when serious exploring and the next Rubicon trip. When the 31's are worn out in a couple years I will probably transfer the 33's over to my slots and wear them out.

    Thank you.

The 33's have ruined me..... I don't know if I can go back to the 31's....... This was supposed to be the beater set of tires.....
The ride with the 33's is so much better than 31's its not even funny. 31's at 18 psi, 33's at 20 psi. It's like the 31's fell into every little hole and cow hoof track...... 33's just roll over the top. Of course the more sidewall gives added cushion. Pic from last night's trip to water. I'm just not crazy about the wheels.... I may throw them on the silver steelies that I used to run.
