Wow! I've never heard of a tranny gear friction welding itself to a shaft........unless it had no oil in it. Re-assembly of a T18 is pretty straight forward. As I recall, I made a dummy shaft out of a piece of copper tubing to help hold the rollers in place while I put in the intermediate shaft.

had it pressed off and you can see the gaulding that took place on the raised race that the gear rides on

wonder if that could be machined down and a brass bushing put in it's place?.....probably not worth the time/money
I'm being quoted $200 for a rebuild kit, $175-$200 for a main shaft, and $100 for the gear

    Jim,

Let me know if you need me to pick anything up from Jon. Make sure you at least remind him that you know me. He'll take care of anyone the right way but I'll tell him to be extry special when it comes to you.

HVLP gun I purchased from Harbor Freight several years ago.......if you do the prep and follow the paint manf. recommendations on air pressure it does a pretty good job

This was my first time peeking in on your build. Started with last page, then went to the first page, then 2nd then the darn thing got REALLY interesting and next thing I know I just spent over 2 hours reading and observing 71 pages of fantastic. Well done on all of it I must say. Also, Im curious if you ever got around to your car. As I read I noticed you first mentioned it was the winter project, but then winter came and gone and by next summer it was still sittin there haha. Really enjoyed the past 2 hours catching up and will stay tuned for sure.

yea my build thread has become a bit unwieldy but it offers a history of the Jeeps progression as well as mine :)

Haven't done a lot to the Lincoln.....spent lots of time on the cj6, guess after I get this trans issue figured out I'll look to get the old girl back on the road

I'll be standing by on the cell phone for guidance, first you need a shaft to go into the counter gear to hold all those bearings and thrust washers(make very sure they are in order) ,then lower the counter gear assembly into ............

we used to have a member here by the name of vanguard, I think it was.
he would set-up a web cam so we could watch him work on another members Jeep
    in his garage.
Jim, you need the web cam set-up.
