Hey there, I'm finally getting around to fabbing up new floors! I don't know what the STOCK bead roll of the rear floor is,, as I have no rear floor and whats left of the wheelhousing shows a bead of 3/4 or is it 1''? The stock bead roll also looks very flat at the top of the bead, is this true? Any help would be great.
    Thanks J

I actually rolled mine last night! My orginal floor had 7/8 to 15/16 wide beads and they are rounded. We only had a 5/8 roller bead and it was for 20 ga and we were rolling 18ga so its just a fair job. I will take pictures tomorrow I am out of batteries and my camera is dead.

Awesome,,, pics would be cool! I've got a couple of 4x8 sheet of 18ga; though I'm concerned that to get a crisp round edge at the end of the bead is going to be difficult using the 18ga, we'll see what happens.

Ok center to center bead dims are 4" and basically it is 36" from inside FW to FW.

New floor from a distance not too bad looking.

I may try to find somone with a bigger roller and go back and re-roll mine. It bothers me now that the fender well beads are bigger.

I left 3/4 of the old floor all the way around and then drilled holes every inch to spot weld the new floor back in. I did not mess with trying to drill out all the old spot welds on the side flanges and then bend flanges. I did make new hat channel.

Wow turned out really good, looks like no distortion of the panel at all... good work. I would rather lay out the cash for tools/equipment and build something myself then have to buy jeep body parts.

    Thanks alot for the pics.

Actually panel did "oil can" a bit. I will install the new hat channels then lay the new panel in the floor and then put sand bags, brake drums or something in there to keep it flat while I weld everything back in place.

I've got the HF bead roller and it's good for what it is. The only problem has been with the fence but it's not all that bad. My fence doesn't sit totally square to the rollers. I should get around to fixing that. Someday. Mostly it's been operator error... ;)

Is it best to start the bead from the center of the panel and work towards the outside edge, or does it really matter?

We started in the middle. We marked out the beads using a sharpie so we had a big line to follow then would roll from one end to the other tightening the roller each time. The piece will "roll" or oil can as I said before so its tough to get it to lay down while welding.

When you roll the beads does it change the dimensions of the sheet? In other words if you start with a 36" wide sheet and roll the beads does the sheet get narrower? I to have been thinking of buying the HF bead roller, I really like the stand on the first HAMB link above.

Rolling beads shouldn't change the dimensions of the sheet, unless you put them too near an edge. Putting in a bead just stretches the metal. I like the first design, as well, especially the steering wheel and the adjuster wheel. That's gotta' make it easier to use.

I was wondering the same thing also. I already beefed up my Harbor Fart roller. Works good now...no flex. I also got an electric gearmotor off of fleabay to make it an electric drive.

Great idea. I'm interested in how you are going to hook it up and also how you beefed up the bead roller. Do you have a foot switch yet or how do you plan to run the motor?

I plan to use a foot switch, and then I will use a toggle switch for reversing it. I'll try to get some pics up today, of how I reinforced it :smash:
