I apologize for the delay.. I have been working on performance reviews at work and the bathroom remodel so no time for the Jeep. I had some time last weekend and again tonight. I reinstalled the brake and clutch pedals last weekend. I also cleaned up and painted the shift knobs. I started rebuilding the passenger floor tonight.

Dude...no need to apologize here - we're not doing performance reviews...;)

Life happens...and you fit in Jeeps when you can. Looks great!

A little more body work today. The previous owner cut the wheel opening for 36's. I looked at buying new side panels but I have more time than money for this project. So I decided to fill in the cut out areas.

    Started with this

Cut this to fill it in.

Added a strip along the edge

Cut out the FUBAR area for the spare tire bracket

    Rebuilt the support

Welded it back in and started filling the cut out area. Welded to the brace for strength.

Looking good, Mike. What gauge metal are you using? I'm getting ready to do my body work. My project is in slo-mo in comparison.

    Bardp,
I am using 16ga. It is about the same thickness as the original metal (at least where rust hasn't thinned it). It's thick enough to allow a half assed welder like me to do a decent job without blowing through like thinner metal.

Wow. Fell all the way to page 3.

I have been making some progress but never had a camera until today. My wife and kids are in Canada visting family and took the camera. Today i found my 5 year olds digital camera while I was cleaning the house so I figured I'd get a few pics. Since my last post I have pulled all the brakes off the axles and pulled apart the parking brake. No pics but I am ordering all the parts for rebuild soon. Continued work on the body and got around this evening to putting together the hat channels for the drivers side. I made them out of 16 ga sheet. I scored the sheet using the cut off wheel on my grinder and then formed the hat channel using a combo of vise grips, body hammer and piece of 4" angle iron. Time consuming but cheap. I drilled holes in the edge of the channel and spot welded to the new floors. Still need to build a piece for in close to the tunnel but ran out of material.

    Hi all,
It's been awhile since I posted. Had a nice long vacation in Canada and now I am back at the jeep. I don't have pics but I drained all the fluids and replaced all the gaskets and fluids in the transfer case, gearbox and engine. Getting ready to pull the rear hubs and replace seals and bearings in the rear axle and make up some puddin' for the front axle. Hoping to order exhaust, brake lines, master cylinder, brake shoes and everything else to finish the rolling chassis in the next couple of weeks. The floors are done on the tub and now I just need to patch a couple of small holes and get it ready for paint. Hoping to have the tub and the frame reunited by some time in Oct. I'll try to get pics this weekend of the current state.

    Hey Sammy,
Marhyde rubberized undercoating from Wal-Mart. $4 bucks a can. Dries well and doesn't crinkle. Easy to touch up and looks pretty good. I've used it on the last 5 or 6 jeeps I have done. Holds up well.

Some body work done. Cleaned the firewall, primed it and covered it with Krylon Camo Ultra Flat tan color. Choose this paint for now because it covers easily, is easy to touch up and looks the way I want.

Painting the rims the same color.

May not be shiny but I am ok with that.
