FWIW - it was running bad because the choke plate was stuck shut. Just ran it around the block and it's much better, and I think a new set of plugs and a general tuneup will bring it round even better.

Never thought I'd pay $50 to fill up a CJ though...:rofl:

Found a loose plug wire while putting in new plugs - so it's running good again. I also took advantage of the CJ6 space to mount some bike water bottle cages for the kids in the back seat:

Still gotta figure something out for up front - but I need to hold coffee cups etc. up there.

That extra room is SWEET! Especially since I came directly from a 51 3A.

This morning I gave the outer white a rattle-can refresh. Mainly this was to cover up the remaining bare metal on the outer lip of the tub where I had to wire-wheel off the Herculiner. Once prepped for that it wasn't that much more work to just re-spray the entire Jeep.

The way the PO used the rougher stone-guard on the lower part of the tub makes it such that you can't always clean stuff off when it gets dirty - so rather than a good wash a fresh coat of paint is a better option... ;)

At any rate this should hold us over till next spring when I can tackle getting the outside painted gold.

Well I figured it'll be a long time until SSDutch looks this crisp and clean again so Armor-alled everything up and grabbed a couple of poser shots at the beach. I'll miss the white color a bit I think - there is something about the white on white that appeals to me - like old wedding photos where the guys wore white dinner jackets.

I've been sitting on a set of 1.5" wheel spacers for awhile now -- I got them cheap from ChuckP in hopes of improving the turn radius of the Jeep. All things being equal I'd rather not run spacers but then again many folks here run them with no issue, and it can't be that much different than bigger tires on wider wheels.

I like the tire/wheel combo I have but with the wider tires on skinny wheels the rubber sticks out more and turn radius is decreased due to tire/spring interference. With the CJ5 it was still tolerable, on the longer wheelbase CJ6 it was pretty bad - like driving a school bus.

So I got the chance to install the spacers tonight to see if they'd help.

    First some pics.

The results? A 20% improvement in turn radius.

Before installing I could turn a circle going left that was 41' in diameter. After installing I could do a 33'. I didn't measure going right and I wish I had. I also wish I had ever measured with these wheels/tires installed on Dutch - it almost feels like SSDutch now turns as tight as Dutch did.

Actually...it'd be interesting for others to measure their turn radius with different wheel/tire/spacer combos..;)

Had the chance to get the trailer hooked up to the Jeep - I was going to drag the trailer to the big cruise show yesterdady but the hubs were loose. I got those tightened up and the rest of the trailer cleaned up today, and ran it to the little local show. It's funny - with the trailer attached I had 4-5 long conversations, other weeks with just the Jeep hardly any.

Anyway - here are a couple of poser pics from the beach run after the car show:
