Looking to get input on replacement of a early cj5 tub (metal) , I will need to replace tub, front fenders & windshield frame. The question is to go with a Willys-Overland repi-tub or a jcw body kit, is the jcw none corrected tub that hard to fit? I would like to know if the repi-tub is worth the extra coin?

    They're the same tub.

Willys-Overland just makes sure that everything "fits" and holes are in the right location, etc.

Others here will be able to comment more I'm sure.

The only manufacturer of replacement tubs is MD Juan in the PI. They have a web site: http://www.mdjuan.com.ph/index.php The resellers here import these parts and sell them under their names.

If you are interested in the WO tub, I suggest you call them and ask them your questions directly.

Your other options are to fix your existing tub using replacement panels and/or sheet steel, or to find a replacement tub in better condition. You can find tubs in the south and west from either Jeep wrecking yards or from private party sales.

ok, I know that all tubs imported are from the same source, I dont want to repair or buy used & repair that. looking to buy a "wo" or a "jcw" tub. I am wondering if spending the extra coin is worth if from a person who has used/installed one or the other & there experance with that product.

    thank you

After using MD Juan replacement floor panels I will only use Classic Enterprises or go 'glass. You have to remove all the existing primer, reweld braces, stretch, bend, tweek, etc etc. Replacement tub or fiberglass wasn't in the budget so I patched and welded.I've used/seen aftermarket replacement side panels with NO PRIMER and rust already forming between the cowl riser and the side panel. They're spot welded together, then fogged with a cheap primer. For the same or less money than a steel tub, I'll go glass if I ever have to do it again. Where are you in VT?

Personally I would steer clear of Willys Overland. I had a not so great experience with them. Right Duke.

I had purchased a dash from them and asked if it had a cutout for the steering column and I was told it did.Well it didnt have one and they made it really hard to return. I didnt want to pay shipping for their mistake, they said they would refund my $ but it took several months and multiple calls. At one point Jay had several people on a speaker phone asking me why I needed to return it.

One of the guys here in Florida ordered a WO tub. It came attached to a pallet. Dented beyone repair. WO sent a recall notice adn picked up the tub. Then a new one showed up. It was something liek 7 months from initial order (payment in full) and final deliverly. But the tub seemed to be of decient quality. All in all, he said he would have not ordered it from them if he had to do it over.

I had a buddie use a tub from D&L Bensinger - they were very happy and the tub was on in less than a day.

JCW tub we used one time took 3 weeks of work (part time) to finally get it on and right.

Fix it, You got plently of metal there to work with. I got rockers, floor pans and a rear floor riser so far from Classic and they fix perfect. I'm also learning to weld sheet metal in preperation for my CJ2A project so it's win win for me.

Heres what I had to work with and what is done so far in two weekends:

i looked into replacement of panels, this body has been patched before so it looks like i would be cutting out 90% of the metal & replacing it..

Hey, I like the looks of that riser panel! I wondered how the body mounts would work out with that particular patch panel and I like what I'm seeing.
