Thought I'd start a thread on the new toy.
Picked up the Jeep from a rancher in so-cal, 33,000 original miles with some very minor surface rust. F-head 134...t-90...dana 18...warn overdrive...p235 75 r15 shoes on original rims.
There's pics in new member forum of the 6 w/ hard top, then without...not sure how to move them here.
    progress pics to come....

Installed a Bestop fold and tumble rear seat for the kids this week, gonna have the fronts upholstered to match.
I had our local metal supply bend up some pipe for me...fabbed it up last night...welded it up today. I need to get some plate for the under side of the tub then will bolt it down

Nice find. I don't think anything like that exists around here.

Inspired by Mike and Ian I decided to get some color on Kahuna.
I've painted the rollbar, and am expecting to have my seats back from the upholsterer tomorrow. I prepped the inside of the tub and went with OrangeR) ...my 12 yr old son wanted flouresant green but I'm not that brave:rofl:
Got lots of parts coming via the brown santa...this is fun!!!!

Yea I'm very lucky with this rig...couple minor dings....little surface rust...a rock solid rig
When I paint the exterior I'll simply wet sand, mask , and spray
I'm definitley digging the orange:) :)

    Jim,

Looks good. How much prep work did you have to do?

I began by cleaning several times, soap n water, orange cleaner, thinner n acetone.... the few areas that were bare I hit with primer, the rest got sanded lightly with a spongy sanding block.
I hit it 3 times, wet sanding in between coats...not bad for gloss Rust-oleum;) 7 cans for the interior so far

Well good - someone is filling the demand for an orange 6 - it wasn't going to be me! I like it on other Jeeps...just wasn't the color that tripped my trigger for my own Jeep.

Looking good....jealous of how little work you had to do to get there...;)

I was thinking about leaving it white, but didn't want folks to think it was fiberglas;) .....being in so-cal, and with a moniker like Kahuna I think orange fits (my neighbors are a bit dubiousR) )
Looking forward to seeing more completed shots of yours Mike...keep em coming.

Looks great. I have decided on Blue Granite Metallic for mine, it is a GM color on the 07 cars and trucks, I also plan on going with a grey interior.

Can't wait to see your finished CJ6.
