It's cold and I'm not going out. So, I'm thinking about my 67 JC project and chasing rabbits. I'd like to keep my OEM hubcaps but would like wider wheels and taller tires. So far my options seem to be widen my OEM wheels or use a US Wheel rat rod wheel in a 16" or 17". I plan to run a 4" lift using Alcan springs, mostly because I want a comfy ride. (I'm old and soft) I want a 33" tire or there about. I have 75 CJ axles that will get the Suzuki disc brake swap. My JC has a V6/auto and runs but that would be too easy. I bought a 2002 TDI VW bug TDI will donate it's heart. I know it will be a chore but I think it will be cool beans when done.
This JC is going to be my retirement project in a few years. I'm almost done with my 1st gen Cummins D350 dually project, which I'll sell after a while to finance the JC project.
Anyway, back to the wheels, has any body here widened their stock wheels? Even if I do widen them I still have to deal with backspace and I don't want spacers. There don't seem to many options out there.
A couple pics because posts WO pics are no fun.

I'm running wheel vintiques 15x8 steel wheels on my CJ, with OEM dog dish caps. Tires are 33x1050-15.
The problem you'll run into is fender clearance. I have a 70 JC also & there's not much room in the rear, I'm not sure a tire that size would clear even with a lift.

Which ones, what backspace? Any pics? Don't tease me like this. :) I've seen where folks are running 33x10.50s on stock JC wheels. It's one option, maybe not my best. I'd prefer 16s just to be sure I clear my calipers after the conversion. I've seen several of these with 33s and 4" lift. I'm not above a slight body lift. I like mods that can be swapped back to stock without too much effort.

I have the same wheels on my '69 CJ5 with 31x10.50x15 tires. They are 15x8 with a 4" back spacing. Here's the link to Summit's listing:
I have several posts about it in my build thread starting here: Old Red Maintenance Thread

I really like the look of them:

I really love the hubcaps on yours. Once the cost of the wheels is a distant memory I'm going to have to hunt down some hubcaps.

Be sure to measure, there's 2 different sizes of the Jeep dog dish caps.

yup, mine are 10 3/8 inside to inside. wont fit. I wondered if a guy couldn't run a bead of mig weld across the bumps and adjust them out.

    Your Jeep is nice.
I wanted to modify mine then, lot of work and time, I prefer to enjoy it as it is.
It will never be a soft car.
My best solution was to modify seats so they absorb shocks.
My wife appreciates. My back too.

Another option for wheels is Stockton Wheel. They make them custom to whatever you want. Truckee4x4 had a set made for his Tuxedo Park resto-mod. Stockton Wheel even sent hm a mock-up for fitment testing before making the final wheels. They turned out really nice. You can see more info in this thread starting here with the mockup wheel: http://earlycj5.com/xf_cj5/index.php?threads/146579/page-2#post-1678353

    Here's his final product:

Note with 33 inch tires and a large inside offset, your turning radius won't be great because the tires with hit the frame/springs.
