I did a quick search of the forums and couldn't find anything immediately so I figure I will ask.

What are my after-market options for intake manifolds on the Dauntless Odd-Fire V6? I have seen that Offenhauser makes one, are there any other options out there that you all know of?

Any help would be great, thanks!

Offy was only aftermarket choice a few years ago; doubt it’s changed.

From what I’ve gathered other than the weight advantage there is very little performance advantage in aftermarket intake. But I have one on my new 231 build as well!

Mines an older Holley intake. Looks cool.

I think for me what is a benefit is the opportunity to use a number of after market carbs. I am not looking for a huge performance upgrade, just a little more flexibly with interchangeable parts.

You'll find very few carbs work as well offroad as the original 2G that it came with.

With that being said, do you know a good reputable place to get the original 2G rebuilt? Also, I need the air filter housing for it, any suggestions on that as well?

I have found a 4bbl provides a marked power increase on the 225.
Holley, Offenhauser, and Kenne Bell all offered aftermarket intakes.
If you decide to go that route, you need to insure you get the right intake configuration and the proper sized carb in order for it to work properly. Short of drag racing, a dual plane works best for just about every situation.
A super small square bore carb or a spread bore (small primaries) usually work best.
I run an dual plane Offy 360 spreadbore with a Rochester Quadrajet. While the Q jet is ridiculously oversized for the engine, I have found this to be the best offroad combo for me. I have also run a Holley Economaster and it worked great as well.

They are pretty simple carburetors. I rebuild mine myself. The biggest thing to be careful of is not loosing the two balls and making sure the right ball is in right place.

You can get rebuild kits from Mike's Carburetor Parts: Carburetor Parts Catalog| Mike's Carburetor Parts

They have a pdf of the service manual: http://www.carburetor-parts.com/assets/2 Jet.pdf

As for an air cleaner, anything with a 2 5/8" opening will work. Or, you can get one of these adapters and use any air cleaner made for a 4bl carb: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/spe-4952

Mike's Carburetors also has a 2-part YouTube video on rebuilding the 2G. I watched the video while rebuilding my 2G, pausing the video while I completed each step. It made it easy.

I see you're in O.C.; I had mine re-built by P & J Carb and Auto in Whittier, CA. a year and a half ago. It runs great, I changed the jets before Colorado last year (and back when I got home) and it still runs good. They are on Whittier Blvd., 13230 E, Whittier Blvd, Whittier, CA 90602
