    Hey all,

I figured I should start a thread for the project at the back of the line, so I can at least post what I'm spitballing.

Best I can tell, this is probably a mid to late 1959 B120. Looks like factory BD264 I6, T98, NP202 with duel gas tanks. Added Tulsa 800 PTO winch, power brakes and a funky set of tanks in the back. The bed is off a later C series International, which was widened to cover the rear dual wheels that were also added.

There's an aftermarket AM radio in the dash, a pipe bolted to the front axle shifter, and the PTO engages from a little knob you pull in the floor.

I'm planning to ditch the bed, which is falling apart at almost every conceivable area, and has been crushed in. It'll get a flatbed, an IH 345 V8, recored radiator, swapped axles so I can ditch the "big 6" bolt pattern for 8lug. Steering is a huge Ross box and parts are getting very expensive so that'll get ditched hopefully for ram assist steering. The bumper looks like it was made using the original bumper, and was totally trashed getting it onto the trailer when the PO bought it at auction. It'll need some work, but it'll be saved, maybe cut the center out for a winch fairlead. Originally, a hole was punched in the center of the bumper for the cable.

Last night I went around and sprayed just about every part of the winch with penetrating oil, and starting hitting other small bolts. I completely forgot to spray the bolts for the bed, which was the whole reason for going out to the truck in the first place. :banghead:

Heres the pics to start it off.

Too bad the bed is toast. It's a nice looking design.

    Needs more hooks.

It would make a good overland build, aside from the abysmal crawl ratio imo (60:1). I'm sure it'll get taken on some overland trips but it's mainly getting built to haul the Jeep. I figure whenever we're not taking the '72 2wd international, we can take mine.

I also want to build it to be able to do recovery. I really wanna make use of the winch.

It's definitely a bummer, but I'm kinda glad in the end. I'd' be conflicted about selling off a nice original bed, and I certainly won't regret ditching that one.

I was a little annoyed that the hooks are missing off the driver's side of the bed.:D

Haven't done much since last post, gone out there and sprayed penetrating oil on the winch moving parts, bolts and the bed bolts.

Poked around under the hood and forgot to take pictures of the engine, but here's my close ups.

Just checked in to this thread. That is some kinda transfer case there. Never saw one of those. I've seen divorced 'cases before but not with the PTO going to the front. There's a lot going on inside that case.

Looks like a very cool project. I'll be watching.

As far as I can tell, its probably a New Process (NP) 201 transfer case. The pto does bolt on the side as you can see, but I think I'm gonna eventually remove the 201 and keep it in the shed for now. I came onto a T98 pto out of another '59 International B130 a couple days ago.
I also got a duel tank switch that has the less common (from what I can tell) switch built into the knob to change the fuel gauge on the dash from tank one to tank two. That'll be really handy on the 1972 International. Down the road I wanna change the 201 for a divorced 203/205 doubler to get a better low range. Here's a close up of the 201/pto and the new T98 pto.

For nothing more than our amusement’s sake, I hope that garden hose is actually the fuel line. :D

Not much happening lately, been working on the '72 fuel system and gas tanks.

Local pick a part got a '67 International, so I went hunting for extra parts.
I felt like I won the lottery with some very rare IH marked west coast mirrors and some other very nice parts.
Most everything is extras for the '72, V8 accessory brackets, fuel pump.

Absolutely scored on a well built truck bed tank that was in the same International for 50 bucks.
Hopefully I'll be taking it with one of the '72 tanks to get cleaned out and eventually this '59 will have four gas tanks. :D:D
Couple more weeks, and hopefully I'll be trying to start it.

I most likely have an IH parts manual for that beast if you want it.
Sounds like it won't stay stock, but if interested let me know.

It'll have as many IH parts as I reasonably can, but brake stuff is unobtanium for the most part, so are the big six wheels it currently has. I'm interested, I'll PM you

Been working tons of hours the past two or three months. Work, come home, eat, shower, sleep, repeat. I'm not sure when I'm actually gonna get time to try to start it. In between the rat race I picked up an extra V8 radiator for the B120 and a fan shroud. It looks identical to the one installed by IH, and I suspect it might be part of the hot climate cooling, although I haven't researched it. I ordered my truck's Line Setting Ticket from the Wisconsin Historical Archives as well, which would have been used at the factory to put the truck together. I was happy to see its a factory PTO, little bummed it wasn't factory dual tanks though.

I was really surprised to see the factory color is Sunshine Yellow, still trying to picture that one.

Thanks Bob. Jeeps are my favorite, but IH isn't far behind.

Only update I have for this build is I'm going to look at some auxiliary gas tanks tomorrow morning. Might buy a bigger one and sell the one I was planning on putting in this. Thinking I'll get around to starting this in a month or so.

When it rains, it pours! Made friends with another IH guy up in local mountains a few weeks ago. Picked up some stuff for the 72, and saw stuff that wasn't in the budget for the 59. Well now its time to clear all the extra parts out to get home and yard work done before the snow, so I ran up last weekend with a friend's trailer and hauled some great stuff home for the 59.

D44 and D60 with more modern 8x6.5 bolt pattern, disk front brakes, D60 lsd. IH 345v8 with a 4 barrel intake, and he still has a 392 I'm hoping to get! If I can snag the 392, it'll eventually get rebuilt for the 59. The 345 will probably be parts for the 72.

Also got a sweet old sears log splitter that needs a little tlc.
