What about one of those memory foam mattresses that comes vacuum sealed in a 12in square box?

That would be easy, but I’m not much of a fan of them. I’m a hot sleeper, and those things are like laying on a hot plate.

    *Like* new.
We’re doing some rearranging downstairs, and the guest bed is moving to the RV. No guests lined up in the future do to covid, so we’re moving the drum set back in the soundproof room. My daughter is killing me. Turns out, her drumming interest wasn’t just a fad.

I had a spring futon mattress that came vacuum packed. When I moved I bagged it back up and took the shop vac to it. Once flat I rolled it up with a bunch of ratchet straps. It was still heavy but now was the shape of a hockey bag.

Correct, but where's the fun in that :D, below is a photo of me banging the skins (bad quality, had to take a picture of a picture in my old highschool yearbook) during the first and only appearance of my punk band "Plastic Fantasy" we covered a Ramones song. I think I was the only kid who had a flight cap and goggles from WW2 IMG_0419.jpg

I got my exercise for the day. That bed isn’t ever coming back out of here in one piece. That was a battle.
    Goofy panoramic photo.
I don’t know why that paint shows as green in pics.

And another win, I swapped in the new $15 Walmart-special faucet. The old one dumped water 2” from the edge of the sink. You couldn’t use it without soaking everything.

Garage sale when I was about 14, I think they are still in the garage. As for the drums, good luck with the convincing, just don't let them talk with ITLKSEZ :rofl:

Drumming is a great ambition, as long as there’s a place to do it that isn’t bothering anyone. That kid is a ball of energy. It really lets her get her aggressions out.

Her timing still isn’t spot-on, but technically, she can drum through the entire “Dookie” album from Green Day. Her little arms get fatigued through some of the longer runs and gets a little sloppy. But still pretty darn good for a 9yo who’s only been at it for a few years.

So, the door panels began as this hot mess.
The wood, the brown, the dirt, the floppy pockets filled with sticky mystery goo...

I ran to Joannes Fabric over the weekend and got a few yards of their gray marine vinyl. It’s really nice stuff @ $20/yd, on a 54” wide roll.

Some of the parts are crooked because they’re just propped in place for the picture, but I had to see what it would look like while I’m waiting for new push-in panel clips to arrive.

I’m seriously considering making a top for the 3a out of this gray. Or at least a bikini top to start with to see how it would hold up.

There was enough fabric left over to wrap the new kick panel next to the house entrance.

The door panel clips arrived, so I was able to put them on.

Next up was the dining table.
I wanted to make something that would collapse against the wall and have cup holders during normal use. My solution took a full week to implement. I started with a $5 hollow core door from the surplus place.

Since the full length of the table wouldn’t fit when collapsed, part of the table needed to fold up.

I made these drop-leaf sliders that support the leaf.
Also, I glued rare earth magnets inside these holes, and embedded screws into the leaf to hold it in place when folded up.

The sliders work great, the magnets - not so much, so I made this little cam to hold the leaf in place.
    Unlocked:

    Locked:

So flip the leaf up, push in the supports, turn the cam, collapse the telescoping leg and lock it up flat, and the table drops against the wall to reveal two cup holders, and two slots to hold the kids’ iPads.
(Ignore the ugly wall... that’s on the list to be addressed.)
