Lifting Shackle Bracket Dimensions

    7D552CBC-A015-4B87-911F-113BA09E2AE1.jpeg I was looking to make my own lifting shackle brackets similar to the M38A1, and was curious if anyone knows the approximate dimensions:

    - interior width
    - height of hole from base
    - diameter of hole

    If you're going to make them I'd suggest getting the shackles first so you can test fit what you do make. Someone on here will have the dimensions you need. Most critical measurement is the width across the inside of the shackle flats.

    Be aware that the m38a1 shackles are not up to the job of being used as recovery points if that's what you have in mind. Horizontal pull to move a stuck jeep is way more than the pull required to lift one.

    Would the brackets ID not be same size as leaf spring... 1.75”.?!

    This isn’t a leaf spring bracket. It’s a “lifting” bracket, which mounts on top of the frame right above the front bumper.

    I have a NOS set of M38a-1 front frame shackle brackets. They are 2" wide inside. The pin hole is 1 1/2" up from the inside of the "U" with a 13/16" hole for the pin. Not seen in your photo is a 15/16" spacer/riser under the rear mounting hole. This is to level the bracket when bolted on the top of the frame step. The brackets are formed from 1/4" thick material. Mine appear to be galvanized under the OD paint.
    As Howard mentions, these brackets are not "recovery" points, but rather tie-down/lifting brackets for securing the vehicle while in transit.
    I hope you have a big pressbrake to bend these up!
