DSC07859.JPG Well... I have the CJ-5 frame stretched and the new steel rails to mount the 1928 chevy body on....... completed. I just finished mounting the under the floor master cylinders (Brake & Clutch), with swing peddles that swing up from under the floor boards... which were designed for Model A Ford hot rods. I built the support rails to mount the (under the seat) gas tank, (from the CJ-5)... behind the back of the cab, under the pickup bed. I need to cut the filler spout, and lengthen it, so it will be outside the bed sides...... I also built a battery box, that will be accessed under the seat. I mounted my new muffl er (flowmaster), and got two tail pipes bent up to clear the rear axle..... T oday I primed the front and back fenders, the splash aprons and the radiator shell..... all will be gloss black..... The cab, bed and hood will be dark British Racing Green...... got my new tires mounted after installing 1.5" spacers to get my tire width out to 62"..... installed a steering stabilizer shock and a tight steer......
I laid the fenders and radiator up on the frame.. to mock up the fender mounting brackets on the frame..... I am starting to like the way it looks and feel it will be a unique, vintage looking truck...... Soon to lift the cab onto it and start the process of extending the cab, (for more leg room)...... enjoy, Sunny

Well.... I have been working on the body.... building a new hardwood framework, to extend the cab 9" and widen the cab 4".... cutting out the small extended cab windows and back window, rehanging the door hinges and curving and forming the new sheet metal...... priming and painting the expanded cab and painting it british racing green....... I had 3 friends help me lift it onto the custom built frame..... and am now bolting it down on rubber pads.
I ran all new brake lines and have the new hydraulic clutch and dual master cylinder plumbed..... and I sent off my Ross box to Brian to be rebuilt..... Moving forward, beginning to see what 'she' will look like all assembled....
next... soundproofing the interior, building the dash, mounting the seats, installing new felt window channels & installing all new safety glass.... wiring and working on the bed and installing the hood..... FUN :) DSC07994.JPG DSC07996.JPG DSC07997.JPG DSC07995.JPG DSC07998.JPG

Moving into the interior..... I have had to fabricate my seat mounting brackets... because the jeep brackets wouldn't work on this body style... I did use two sets of adjustable runners that came with the Jeep.... so that the passenger seat is adjustable also..... I used 2" angle iron, cutting out areas and bending it and welding it back together, to get a 4" lift in the front of the seat & 3 inches in the back... getting the leg room I need (I'm 6' 4")... and the good view out the windshield..... I mounted the steel visor over the windshield..... put on the wooden roof, then soundproofing and reflective insulation, topped off with the black outdoor roofing vinyl.......and installed the rain gutters.
I realized that where I had the battery mounted under the floor boards, under the passenger seat, that I would never be able to access it.... Duh..... So, where can I put it..? the only place that felt good to me was up under the hood..... and it barely fit..... in fact I had to take 3/8" off the air cleaner housing.... The the whole cab got soundproofing and reflective insulation, then 1/8" paneling..... and then some areas got more insulation on the panels and real leather applied on the outside.....I made an access panel on the drivers floorboard, to get to the master cylinders for brakes & clutch...... I install new felt window channels and soundproofed the door skins, and installed new safety glass..... doors are ready to hang. I wanted a unique hood ornament, so I mounted chrome wings and a little man meditating as my hood ornament..... It has been a wonderful Meditation... to sit and look at all the old chevy & jeep pieces & parts..... and visualize ...... the final outcome.... and very meditative to be building it.... with a quiet mind & and an open heart..... Fun :) DSC08053.JPG DSC08056.JPG DSC08054.JPG DSC08057.JPG DSC08055.JPG DSC08058.JPG DSC08060.JPG DSC08061.JPG DSC08066.JPG DSC08062.JPG

the building of a vintage (1928) 4X4 truck continues..... New door windows and felt channels and window risers modified,...... to create a working, tight shutting, solid door finished boyh of them now and hung them in the cab frame... and they fit... the hood is painted and mounted.... the truck bed and fenders painted and mounted..... getting ready to mount the seats onto the floorboards, bolted into the steel frame.... rebuilt Ross steering box on the way... to be installed soon..... welded the receiver hitch to the frame in back, and built gussets to reinforce the hitch..... getting ready to bolt in the wooden bed...
