I spent most of the last month off and on trying to get the motor started. Finally pulled the column out and took it to get fixed because I wasn't having any luck my self.
They had to re-bend the rod from the key to the switch to make it work. Then I fought the fuel system for a couple of days, finally got gas to the throttle body. Found out something I did not know. It needs a return from the throttle body back to the tank. Talked to a mechanic about the fact I installed a return equip regulator in the fuel line. Said I could plug the port at the throttle body it would be ok. Now I had fuel pressure and tried again not fire. Did some checking on the install instructions and found I had not chosen a good circuit to power the ECM so make that change and hit the key and it came to life. I now have running motor. And no wires let the smoke out.

Got busy adding parts. If you notice the grab bar in the first picture and you notice it in the other pictures, you will see that I ran in to an issue and had to figure out how to move it to some where else. The front stanchions do not allow putting it where it should be.

Took alll the parts for the carrier down to the high school welding class and let them weld it up. Did a good job.

Put new handles on the doors with lock and key, and hung them in place for the first time after paint.

Love this jeep, keep up the good work! I'm interested to hear if you think the stretched tj frame was worth it in the end. I'd like to do something similar down the road.

Tried the fender flares and the rocker guards. Found that the right front fender was bent enough that the flare would not fit. I guess something I had failed to check the fit on before paint. Oh well
    20200210_134338.jpgresized.jpg

Ordered an after market fender tried the flare on it out of the box before cutting the inner fender to clear the TJ frame.

Bolted it up (kinda like the blue/black contrast but it is going to paint)

Dropped the hood on because it hadn't been on yet.

Wired up the Lite Dot tail lights some one sold me cheap after winning them in drawing, he already had them.

Set up a small paint booth and got busy coating things that had not been coated yet. Rear bumper from RockHard (modified a bit).
Coating is Raptor Tint-able, tinted with the same color as the shiny paint.

    20200308_162619.jpgresized.jpg

Rocker Guards coated, had waited until I could see if the Wife could get in the Jeep without changing the step. She was able to get in with a 3in. taller step stool than the other Jeeps.
    20200308_162632.jpgresized.jpg

Tire carrier coated and installed. These are RotoPax cans, and no the Jeep is not diesel just used the cans to fit the mounts.

And got the after market fender back from paint and installed.

Really sharp work. I like the carrier a lot, great plan for tire as well as liquid storage in a tight space.

Put on more coated parts. Got to looking and decided I wanted to put welting between the panels. Ordered color samples from Bob Drake. Found a bit darker blue and used it.

Went to the DMV to see what hoops I will have to jump through to get my registration updated. Took my picture book, insurance card and plate. They took care of it in one trip. Good to go so got it mounted and lit up.

    20200325_131544.jpgresized.jpg

Installed the gas filler. Had to grind the hole a bit and scratched the coating, oh well I plan to drive it so it will probably get worse than that.
    20200325_133704.jpgresized.jpg

Put the dual batteries in and mounted the ARB compressor, hooked up the hoses to the tubing on the frame. Other parts laying there are the Painless dual battery system, figuring where to mount things.
    20200325_134143.jpgresized.jpg

Order an Air Raid air cleaner for a Chevy V8 didn't list the V6. Found the plenum and filter fit just fine. I didn't need the tube extension it came with.

I love seeing your updates pop up in my alerts, always fun.

I didn't have nearly as smooth of an experience with the dmv; in fact, I never finished dealing with them. They wanted me to schedule a meeting with a dmv inspector to come out at an unspecified time and look at unspecified things, and then they'd get back to me on whether they would accept the changes ( my VIN is wrong on the title, as well as potential color change, and stretch from cj5 to cj6).

Really nice work! You're making good progress.

It looks like the bolts holding the license plate on have bulbs attached? Am I seeing that correctly? If so, would you provide info and a source?
