Tuxedo Park Registry

    Spinning off of the superjeep registry I'm hoping to compile current owners of the surviving Tuxedo Park MK1, 2, 3 & 4's, both cj5 and cj6.

    Especially want to start to compile any information about the very early ones about which it seems like there isn't much out there.

    Who's got a Tux or has some info on one? Post it up and give some details.

    Mine is a 1963 Tux Mark 3 VIN: 57548153200. October 1962 Build date

    Indian Ceramic Red, survivor. My goal is preservation.

    My Tuxedo Park is a 1966 with the factory Dauntless v6. VIN is 8322 A 16391, which breaks down to, open body cj5, Tuxedo Park. “A” is the Dauntless v6, “1” is left hand drive, “6” is no emissions, “391” is early May build.
    I went with all Bestop brand for the seating, soft top and spare tire cover. The fender well seat cushions are NOS. New complete dash from Walck’s. New 2.5” BDS suspension. Drive train is, T-86 3-speed floor shift, Dana 18 single stick, Dana 27, Dana 44 with power-lok. LT 235 75R 15 Toyo M-55 snow tires.

    Paint and trim tag is cool. Jeep used that type of tag through 1972. They are just glued on, and often fall off. If it were mine, I'd at least make sure that it's well secured. If not, I'd remove it for safe keeping, or maybe stick it back with some Pliobond type cement.

    Since you're bringing up the Tuxes, I have never seen or documented any MK l or MK ll Tuxes. The implication is there were two previous versions. The MK lll Tux was offered for 1963, and only in Indian Ceramic (coral) and had a white grill. Unfortunately, the MK lll didn't have any different designation on the model/serial tag from regular CJ5 models. I'm not aware of any CJ6 versions either.
    The MK lV Tux had two distict versions and was a stand-alone new model, either 8322 or 8422 for the long wheel base. The '64 and '65 F134 versions with the column shift T90/single lever T/C . These came in only 4 body colors; White Cap, Presidential Red, Sylvan Green, and Sierra Blue. There were many unique trim features such as chrome parts.
    I have heard that the V6 Dauntless was introduced in the second generation MKlV, which seem to be available in any Jeep color, though Prairie Gold (light yellow) was popular. The MK lV Tuxes were made partway through the '67 model year.
    All this info is off the top of my head and I will add to or correct information when I get back home to look into my notes. I happen to be up on the NC Outer Banks where my two Tuxes reside. I still have the '64 my father bough new in '65, and it serial #11400 and it was White Cap with red top and seats (June '64)
    I'll look tomorrow at my other one (Sierra Blue/blue interior w/white hardtop) to post the numbers. I have also parted a Sylvan Green (w/green top and interior) one and will post those numbers.
    Edit: My Sierra Tux is #13755 (Dec '64) and a Sylvan green parts Tux was #11655 (July'64).

    Roy, your reading too much into your Tux serial number. You are correct that the "A" designates the Dauntless, but the rest are simply serial #16391. The Tuxes used sequential serial numbers. I'll post up the range when I get back in town.

    This period ad also implies the existence on the mark 1 and 2. Whether or not there are still any in existence is up for debate, but they certainly did at some point.

    1966 Tux MK IV vin 8322 15272
    Presidents Red, Originally T-86AA now T-90, D-18 Single stick, D-44 D27A, Dauntless 225 V6
    Interior/exterior same color except windshield is black. Fender-well cushions were red, Seats bucket w/black upholstery. Drivers seat slide fwd/bck pass seat fold/tumble. Gear ratio 3.73.

    Mine doesn't have much original equipment left, but here's what I do know.

    1965 CJ5A 8322 14476 would put production in March of 1965 - Currently titled as a '61 as the owner before me bought it at a police auction and they didn't have access to the VIN listings we use. I will have to re-title it at some point to correct the model year.
    Original color was President Red
    Black split front bench seat (in excellent original shape)
    Column Shift was changed to floor before I got it, still have the column with the attachment for the shifter and original steering wheel, now modified to Saginaw power steering.
    Original hood with the Mark IV badges and the cutout for the snorkel (snorkel filler plate missing)
    Original tail gate with the the license plate bracket
    Had a F-134 with T-90 and twin stick Dana 18. Only the 18 remains.
    Had a fresh air heater that was rusting apart.
    Original grill shell was kept, but modified for my power train.
    It did have the mounts on the tub for the old style soft top poles.
    All chrome (hinges, mirrors, etc.) missing

    Here is it as I purchased it. Someone wanted an M38A1.


    Current state as my wife's daily driver.

    This tux has become an LS swapped restomod, detailed in my signature. I would like to find most of the smaller pieces, like the chrome hinges. I did buy a set of the hood badges and the tailgate license plate.

    1965 Tux Park Mark IV. Vin 8322 10974. F head, floor shifted t90 ( was a column, dash and sticker are still there), D18 twin stick, 5.38's with 11" brakes. Has a small lift and 33's. Got it by accident. Was looking for a flat fender and happened upon this and it was a good deal. From what i can tell it was built in May of 1964 but it's titled as a 1965. Most of the chrome and tux park parts are missing. someone along the way made it into a trail rig.

    I’ve got a 1966 (1967?) MKIV. Serial is 8322 A 16450.

    OEM color was gold. Came to me with the Dauntless V6, D18 single stick, floor shift T86-AA case with T90 gears. Open D44 rear and D27A front.

    Trim tag is long gone along with other Tux items such as rear license plate holder and bumpers. The list of non-tux items I removed is too long to list. Let’s just say it probably didn’t come with a 2007 Toyota Tacoma heater core....

    I am currently a few years into restoring what I can and adding what I hope are sensible safety and performance upgrades like front disc brakes, 11” rear brakes, chain clutch, 3” rough country springs + warrior shackles, off road tires and wheels TBD for forest exploration.     Just picked mine up yesterday, 8322 14302. Floors are rusty as well as the driver's side but otherwise very straight. Still has the column shift and chrome taillight lamp.
