I’m in the process of rebuilding the large Ross box in a cj5 with the v6. My question in when I set the sector shaft in place with the worm gear does it have to go in a certain spot? As long as both pins are making contact in the straight ahead position is good? Then i can turn the wheel either all the left Or right and set the adjustment so I have “slight drag” in the straight ahead position.

Yes,the main thing here is that when it's back in the pitman arm is in the correct orientation, i.e. straight down, when the pins are in the middle of the worn range. Then you can adjust the drag feel.

I was also have an issue with the drag link wanting to hit the bell housing when the wheels are turned all the way to the left. So I just turned them as far as they would go and aligned out the pitman on. Does that sound correct. The sector and pitman are new parts so I had no marks to long up
