Im sure lots of people have died from occupational exposure to isocyanates and other hazards. Maybe in Oly, I don't know. but I was just stating that I got my training about the hazards of this exposure at a local, to you, fabrication facility.

I use an air supplied mask. If you don’t have one a good painters mask is next best, fresh air is the key. I use two fans one slightly larger than the other. The larger one pushing fresh air in the slightly smaller one sucking this creates a positive pressure situation keeps dust down and the shop clean.2k paint is no joke it will kill you.

The only *approved* mask for isocyanates is a fresh-air, full-face apparatus. It attacks mucous membranes, leading to chemical burns, severe eye irritation, lung swelling, and long-term exposure leads to asthma and cancer.

When i was poor and desperate I did the work no one else wanted to. Worked 6 days a week and tried to make overtime by mid day on a Wednesday.

That paint and epoxy hardens in your eyes. Its very irritating and comes out the next day. The MEK or acetone or whatever you use to thin it gets absorbed through your skin and eyes.

When I worked as a tool painter, the company literally did not care about safety whatsoever. My manager had to fight with them to get me a half mask that actually fit my face without gaps. Forget about outside air.

The parts I was painting were so big they wouldn't fit INSIDE the tractor trailer paint booth, so they made a plastic tent and duct taped it to the outside doors. I filled that tent with explosive paint with welders and grinders working next to it.

I used to have long hair... Even with full Tyveks and a spray sock it ate it all. I used to take vasoline and cover my eyes and upper cheeks to keep the paint from hardening on my eyelids. Made a bit of a barrier.

It got in my eyes though and hardened there. It would work its way out eventually. I quit when i couldn't deal with it anymore. I learned a lot, but it probably took some time off my life. Who knows?

Anyway, follow the MSDS and the instructions on whatever you're buying. They aren't kidding about the dangers.
