Does anyone known what the different between a GJP-7402 A generator and the GJP-7402 B?

Someone said that the A is for the four cylinder and that the B is for the six cylinder.?
Or is about the Circuit one being the A circuit and one being the B circuit?

I can not help you, my generator is in the barn on a shelf, I put a GM One Wire on my Jeep, saves a lot of BS. I saved it because it is part of the Jeep, but don't intend to use it, never had much luck with Generators, and Regulators, I bought a new regulator for my Jeep and could never get everything to work at once. It was easier to just switch than fight it. Good luck

A long time ago in a place far away.... I had my generator rebuilt and had tested the mechanical regulator on my transplanted Fhead engine in my first 2a. It was all 12 volt, so I guess it was post 1956.

Anyway, if I had a generator and was running stock ignition and lights, I would just take the generator apart, clean it, install new bearings and brushes and run it.

I NEVER had any issue with my generator. Daily drove it for several years.

    Unlikely.

More likely, only way to tell for sure is to pull the back cover & check the wiring.

I have no problem with generators.

Generators will charge a dead battery from zero, and they will allow a rolling start with a dead battery, neither of which are possible with an alternator. The last alternator I bought included a warning that "charging" a low battery could void the warranty!

I was at the FLAPS yesterday getting my F-350 tested. The tech said "your alternator and battery are both fine, but the battery needs a charge.":crazy:
