What are my options for replacing my headers on the old girl, the old ones are in rough shape. Trying to keep cost down too.
    Cheers

Advanced Adapters or Novak are the only ones that I know of.

Hedman #69420 use Remflex # 13-004 header gaskets. I have headers on '69 and stock exhaust on '71 .No real preference for either one

I went from fenderwell headers from the PO to manifolds and traditional exhaust....I much prefer it. Don't know if that is the most cost effective but might be worth considering.

Iron manifolds will be cooler, quieter, leak less, and be stronger/more durable. My boss ran Jeepster Baja race cars and used iron manifolds exclusively. They have their appeal, especially for a Jeep.

This was my first auto project of any kind so I wanted an EASY option. I used the Advance Adapter headers. Made it easy for the power steering mod. Lots of room and looks good.

I wheel on rocks ,hate the headmans they exit right in line with the front tire ,,,,,ditched those for a set of Hooker super comps and that fit close to the frame much better ,,, but they aren't made anymore and almost impossible to find

Been running AA headers since my PS install in ‘98. Nice, thick flanges and never had a leak or issues with rust thru. Money well spent...

Anyone tried the Novak headers in a pre 72 cj5 or earlier M38A1 with steering column in factory location with a saginaw power conversion? Where the new column just has the splines protruding through the floor? Neither Novak or Sanderson has sufficient dimensions for me to see if I can pass the steering shaft past the rear tube. Someone with an uninstalled set willing to draw a profile to the rearmost tube and flange would likely solve my dilemma!!

I helped Eric at Novak design the block hugger headers they sell (at least I believe they are the same ones). You can see some pics HERE of what it looked like.

To remember - these are pics of the design work on a rig with a 2" body lift. It would take a bit more to get them to work there, but not much. They do work great on the stock types of setups. ******* across the street from me is running them on his rig, and had the exhaust plumbed back in a stock configuration from them.

Those are beautiful. I want to make myself a set when I get motivated.. Also, those engine mounts are what i need to make.

Please let us know more when you install them. Thinking of replacing old rusty iron ones myself.

    The headers have arrived!
Spent first week working out the steering - all fits w a few adjustments.

Finally tried the passenger side and it does not fit around the factory v6 mounts. It also barely would go in front of the mini starter I have and dumps right on top of driveshaft.
NOT like the passenger picture on Warloch’s site (to my eyes)

Interesting that both headers are exactly the same and wouldn't fit between frame and starter like pictures on passenger side.

Sent pics and briefly talked to Novak, waiting on response - but does appear to be two driver side headers instead of two different sides (if there is a difference like the pictures seem to show)

    Warloch
Checking - are the driver and passenger sides different? Or are my eyes deceiving me from the posted pictures?

Current design as sold by Novak and made by Sanderson has both sides mirrored- placing the passenger collector output right over driveshaft and it also requires a mini starter. Collector fits in front of starter. My factory V6 frame mounts will also not work.

More info to follow as I receive it

I answered the PM, but figured I'd put it here to... They 'used to be different'. Getting it to clear the starter nice and clean was one of the specific things I worked on with Eric at the time.

Tried the alternate (somewhat different shaped) engine mount and it is slightly better.
Header still will not fit in place - factory engine mounts interfere w header

Are you sure that you have correct engine mounts? Do you have two of the same side header? It doesn't make sense that the header design would be changed to the point that it no longer fits in jeeps...... Perhaps some pictures would enlighten us......
