If I ever have my tub off I'm going to look at the bracing for the hitch like you did. Great Ideal to get a rear tank and still be strong enough to pull stuff.

A successful first drive around in the field...

While we had the tub off we made sure and bled the brakes. We also replaced the steering column tube. Put the body back on Tuesday, then today we finished putting the fenders and floorboards and stuff in. We wired up the ignition switch and off he goes! Brakes work good, steering steers, all the gears work in the transmission and transfer case... Super happy for my father, this is the first time he's ever had a vehicle that was a toy, or just an extra for that matter...

We did it... We got my dad's Jeep out in the woods to our favorite wheeling destination...

This beautiful little lake on the north side of Mt. Shasta...

The view on the way in... We flat towed the Jeep to the forest circus roads and he took off with my daughter riding shotgun... He's having fun relearning how to drive something this old again. Other than flooding out in one spot, the Jeep didn't have any trouble... [IMG]
The old girl is a patchwork of paint with all the left over parts from other Jeep's.
We were doing good until we tried to hook the tow bar back up to my truck. It turns out I had left the pins that hook the towbar to the bumper on the back bumper when we unhooked... Yup. Gone with the wind.... So my dad snuck home on side roads... After a brief trip down Hwy 97... It was a great trip and we had loads of fun with all our family that came along with us...

Had that been me my dogs would have been in the jeep with me. Shasta was always a beautiful view from any direction.

I've met people that have lived around here their whole lives, hunting and fishing, that have never even heard of this lake... There's no fish in it, it's just fed by snow melt, and it has a nice sandy beach two thirds of the way around it... It's also cool because you need 4wd to get to it and there is a lot of old skid roads around to play on...

Ive never actually been to it, but have scoped it out as a possible camping spot. Thanks for the heads up on the lack of fish!

That sandy beach was the first place I camped with my last dog when she was just a little puppy... and we had 12 years of adventure together afterwards.

I was stationed at Beale AFB, not too far from there. Love that area!

My mom's first ride in the Jeep...

She took me for a ride... I flipped the windshield down to keep the dust off...

My wife taking our niece foe a ride... We had a bunch of family in town this weekend to celebrate an uncle retiring... So we had all the dirt bikes, go karts and the jeep out playing on the tracks I built in the field... It was a great time. My dad and I were working hard on the jeep to get it ready for this weekend... Now that his is going, I'm going to get mine back out of the corner and get back to work... I just need to remember what I was doing... Lol :shrug::mad::sneak:

I've been getting some work done on my seat mount. I'm trying to make the seat adjust. Wifey is 5'2". I'm 6'2". So I figger any effort will be worth it, besides my daughter wants to be able to drive it as well.

Wifey brought home a puppy last week. He seems to be adjusting to being in the shop with me...

I’m all for making work for oneself, but stitch welds are quicker :bananatool: .. On that note, not sure how you get ANY work done with the wife in the garage :sneak:
Dig the build thread, sounds like a fun family!

Finished up the seat slider today... I needed to keep the part with the pull pin from rocking when the pin was pulled on... So I tied it into the other side.

And here it is all painted in the finest shade of red oxide primer... I'm pleased with how it all turned out... I'm going to apply some grease to the areas where everything slides back and forth just to make it a little smoother...
Thanks for checking it out, laters

Doing some tinkering and thinking... I'm trying to figure out where I want to mount the passenger side seat... Up and down is easy, I'll just match the driver's side. Forward and backwards is a little harder....

In the meantime it's nice to be able to come out to the shop and sit down in a seat that is actually bolted to the jeep... It's a comfortable place to drink coffee... And it's been since March of 2013 since I've had seats bolted in...

Match forward and backwards, but I'm almost OCD.
