I know! Topic has been covered to nauseum.
BUT there is no decisive picture showing where the #1 wire should go on the cap. Pictures and links have been ended in the posts.
So would one of you kind gents post a picture showing the location on the true # 1 wire cap post. Picture is worth a 1000 words. Some pictures posted don't point post out and the wires cant be seen going to #1. The verbal descriptions of where it is makes my eyes cross.

    Thank you Sirs.

Ahh, I remember now, you're right. I forgot there was some of that stuff in there. No, I didn't do anything to it.

I have a bit of a riddle, I have been struggling to get my rebuilt 225 running with HEI. Popping, big back fires, running very rich. I moved all the plug wires one space counter clockwise and re clocked the distributor to the new #1 and it got rid of all of those issues. I still have low idle issues.

Please read the threads on the position of the number one - it also explains that you CAN NOT move the plug wires one space left OR right and have it work correctly. HEI on Odd Fire motors MUST be done with number one cyl at TDC and using the number one post on a HEI distributor.

Its all in the name, ODD FIRE - the spacing between even and odd firing positions is NOT the same, on the ENGINE or the HEI DISTRIBUTOR.

On the Mallory pointed distributors for these engines the cap actually has a number 1 marked post and tells you where to locate it on the engine.
