After all that.... I sold it.
Sometimes memories are better left as memories. It needed more work than I have the time or money to put towards it, so I passed it on and sent half the money to Dan.
Here’s a thread I had going on it.

1956 CJ5. F134, 6 volt. Runs, steers, stops. All gages and lights work (except for cluster illumination lights). Willys heater works - well it pushes warm air :) Made the safari top with my daughter. Need to remove turn signal wiring and radio wiring (PO removed the radio) under dash and patch or replace dash. Only rust is on the rear tail light panels where the mounts catch water and mud. Original dealer stencil still visible on tailgate. Keeping the patina and keeping it old school. New springs and shocks on tap for late this year and possibly a repro wiring harness down the road. Pics in my media folder here: Media for user: TonyM | ECJ5

Latest pic. Getting the side mirror was nice, another part off the list. So now it's tracking down the correct oil bath for the 1966 Dauntless.

Looks awesome, Roy! It seems like a subtle upgrade but that chrome mirror really stands out! (y)

    Thank you!
I can’t stop looking at it, haha!
Sure makes a difference when driving. I have the interior rear view mirror, but they were tiny. Having the side one now really helps.

My 66 Dauntless has a paper filter. Is there an advantage to an oil bath type? ( besides the messy maintenance advantage)

My youngest just got her driving permit and has been begging me to teach her to drive the Jeep. I don't know which one of us had more fun. Smiles per gallon were high on this trip.

In very dusty conditions the oil bath is better. Modern paper elements have come a long way though from 50+ years ago. Yes, they are a bit messy when swapping out the old oil (every 3rd oil change) but that’s ok. I like the original look, so that’s my reason for wanting one. :)

    Thank you Dave!
Yes, lots of smiles. I putt around the back roads over here, usually only around 25 mph. Drive to the local country store for a coffee is always nice.

The oil bath for 225V6 is getting harder and harder to find. They pop up on ebay once in a while but not cheap.

I have an oil bath from a 1969, (the one that has the emission tube) but it’s not the correct one for the 1966. It’s a nice one, just wrong for my year jeep.
