    Well preparing for the worse...

I picked the Jeep up from the detailer today and noticed the motor was running hot.
Make a long story short, I was a gallon low on coolant and after pulling the dipstick I’m detecting a hint of milky haze. I promptly pulled the truck into the loading dock at work and I just had to walk away I was so frustrated.

Motor is a 360 I built and documented on this forum a few years ago.. I prob have 5000 miles on the CJ6 and although I have had my gremlins to chase down the motor has been reliable.
The Jeep was in storage all winter, started it now and then over the winter.. no issue.

I’ve been breaking in the Rover so I really haven’t driven the CJ. The day I pulled it out of storage it was hard to start.. motor acted a bit funny.. unsure if this is a relevant or not.

Plan as of tomorrow AM is get it towed over to a buddy’s shop and have the oil changed, coolant flushed and start with a compression test. I’ve never dealt with a head gasket issue so my diagnostic skills aren’t refined.. any suggestions?

Do a cooling system pressure test too that will help to confirm your isse

I had a similar thing happen to me once. I changed the oil and coolant and test ran it again. It still had some coolant, but passed the pressure testing. When it cooled back down, I retorqued the head, but still haven't had a problem. It's like the gasket lost its seal in storage but once it got hot, it sealed right up.

Some say they should ne retorqued after a few heat-cool cycles. Unsure how one does that with a V8 and intake manifold without upsetting that joint, too.

with a torque wrench...…. seriously I doubt the slight adding of torque will mess the intake up,at least it never has to me.

Initial diagnostic leads me to believe it’s an intake manifold gasket issue..
Compression test came out with all cyl being within 15 psi of each other..

About 18 months ago a buddy noticed coolant under the Jeep... has a slight weep from the back of the intake... manifold bolt was almost finger tight. I re torqued and went on my merry way.

Backfire and a hard start when taking out of storage.. kinda all makes sense now.

Fresh oil/filter and coolant for the mile drive home from my friend shop. Looks like the manifold is coming off next week..
