Almost close enough antenna. Telescoping, ball and spring. Auto Select Universal top and side mount antenna.

As far as I know, the antennas (and radios) were dealer installed accessories. I believe there were several antenna configurations and locations. Ive seen your spring style on either side of the cowl side above the embossed "Jeep", or on top of the cowl on the passenger side with a plain mast.
    Any other observations?

x2. No such a thing as a "correct" antenna other than the design dating to the 50's/60's.

Ive seen several dashes cut for speaker and radio like mine, with same speaker grill. Makes me think there was a template and instructions of some manner. Radio has a Jeep labeled faceplate. Its just an AM radio but I like it.

Well, it was 1973. And there seems to be a fair amount of repeatability of the dealer-installed radios and antennas at that point. Maybe dealer installed but seems they were getting the parts from mother ship since radios had Jeep logo on faceplate, and seems speaker cutouts and grills were somewhat repeatable.

Here’s a pic of mine, solid mast, ball and spring.
The AM radio with the Jeep logo was a Bendix. Never came factory in the cj5, but in the jeepsters and wagons. But you do see the cj5’s with them installed, mine was one of those cj’s.
I have since sold the AM Bendix radio.

Great! I like the straight spring and all metal base.

So wow, I went to the Jeep garage and found out I have a spare! Brand new.
Power Flow is the name brand. 3’ mast. If you can not find one, I will sell this one to you for $20 USD plus shipping. Just that the shipping would be as much as the antenna, since I live all the way on the west coast, Canada. (I bought only 4 years ago)
