Well I finally got all the woodworking crap out of my garage and it looks like it may start cooling off so I want to get this project restarted. I have a little more work to do on the frame before its completely done but its really close. I clamped the shock towers on last night just to see what they would look like.

I used the same shock towers. Was one of the last things I welded in, they only fit in a very small space once the fenders are installed.

What did you do for your rear shock mounts?

I used the stock mounts. They seemed to have enough travel, being on the angle they are helps I think. So far working well but I have not looked really closely under full flex since it is been driving.

Started painting the frame last night. My jeep must have been built on a Monday.

Hey who wants to resurrect a thread about a CJ-6 from the dead???? Bet y’all thought I was dead, sold this junky jeep, or bought a gladiator. Well none of those are true suckers! I just got lazy . But I was cleaning out the garage the other day and was staring at this jeep frame and thought “sure would be cool to have a CJ-6”. So let’s kick this thing off again for at least a few months lmao!

So I went and bought a sixer of tall boys and fired up some AC/DC! Pulled the tape off the front diff and the bearings are rusty from sitting I guess. Figured the rear was the same but it looks ok so I doused it in gear oil so it won’t rust lol. Started cleaning up the rear axle shafts. Need to get some bearings and wheel studs for them. Found the disc brake kit from Herm ( ordered it on 8-17-18, shame).

My goal for now is to get a rolling chassis! I know I had a notebook I was keeping track of things in, gotta find that.

I’m going to consume some more adult beverages and see if I can summon the spirit of Henry J Kaiser for advice on this build!

While I'm waiting on axle bearings and seals, I pulled the v6 that came in the jeep out from under all the trash bags I had it stored in. I honestly do not remember how well it ran but it looks pretty clean in the valley and under the valve covers. I also remembered I had another V6 that I bought for the power steering setup. I drug that one out just to see what it looked like. It does not look like I remembered it looking lol. I think its a 225, maybe.... I know it was in a car because I had to cut the power steering hose to get the pump off the car when I got it.

Did some digging into the casting numbers on the PS donor. It’s a 1985 3.8. It has rear dump exhaust, does anyone know if this will work on the 231?

Dipstick and tube could probably be modified for a Dauntless. Folks are looking for those all the time.
