    Hello,
I'm not sure how the front passenger seat on my M38a1 is supposed to be mounted. Combing through images on Google isn't answering my question either. Attached is a photo looking rearward underneath the passenger seat.

My question is regarding the frame of the seat. It appears to be sitting just on the edge of the support bracket. Is this correct? Should the seat frame be closer to the outside of the vehicle? Am I missing a part? Any thoughts are appreciated
    Thanks,
    Ken

Your mount has been modified. OEM military had a spring-clip where that chunk of angle iron was welded.

I just pulled this image off the intertoobs...

Pete, that angled tab shown in his pic looks a lot like the part of the A1 drivers seat that bolts to the door sill. Maybe someone has adapted a partial drivers side frame to the pass side.

To tell the truth I haven't looked under my own front seat in 20 years. I was just going by the web image I found.

I'll have to go check the set-up on mine - after the blizzard that's coming.

I'm not following what angled tab you are referring to. Can you clarify?

Lowest part of the seat frame, just off the corner of the tool box lid

I cut out that piece of angle iron. I ordered a spring clip from a M38A1 rear seat. After some cutting and bending it functions as the spring clip in the photo PeteL found. Much better. Thanks for the info, I would not have guessed that on my own.
