Massive update coming in the next few days with pictures but right now, I'm trying to figure out body color and what to paint/bedline.

I'm thinking as of now painting the interior, underbody and wheel wells black upol raptor and the exterior, roll bar, and windshield frame patriot blue.

anyone have any ideas of what should be what color/paint/bedliner? Was originally thinking of spraying everything in raptor liner; exterior with a fine texture but kind of thinking against it. I'm painting this myself with limited resources but I want to pick a paint that'll hold up and resist scratches. I'll be spraying outdoors. Any ideas on what I can easily spray? Nothing that'll kill me quickly if my respirator slips...

I'm a fan of single stage acrylic enamel, especially on Jeeps.

I also prefer a black windshield frame as opposed to body color, I like the contrast. I also prefer black on the roll bar as well because I really like the look of Jeeps without roll bars. Painting it body color makes it stand out, whereas black kind of makes it less prominent. And well, I like body color in the fender wells too for a more authentic look. Just my preferences and reasons.

I agree with Tim if you are going for a "retro" look. It's YOUR Jeep, do what makes you happy and enjoy it!

Thanks all for your suggestions. I've also been going back and forth on whether or not to tint the raptor liner to match the body color. I'm thinking I should; paint everything blue besides the windshield frame (paint that black). Do the lower windshield hinges get painted black or body color?

Single stage acrylic enamel seems pretty straightforward; just have to mix hardener and reducer to spray it sounds.

Since we are allowed to help you spend your time and money I vote:
    Windshield frame and hinges- Black
Interior- fine texture raptor liner tinted to match body color
    Wheel wells- same as interior
    Exterior- nice shiny paint

I'm liking Norcal69's thoughts. Plus I have 8 bottles of tintable Raptor so matching color would save me from having to buy black...

Now time to update my progress. Over the past couple months, I haven't had too much time working on it but did find a friend with an actual garage I could do body work; was able to house the body and . I even had some help getting with body work. I'm planning on bringing it home Saturday to do a final fit up before paint. I know I'll need to cut the fenders to fit the headers as seen below.

    Hood:

Grill (later CJ grill to accommodate the radiator and fan since I've got the V8; still need to cut the parking light holes out):

    Body:

While working on the body, I also did some work on the frame.

    Tie Rod flip:

Transmission Mount Change (I have had 3 "original" trans mounts, 2 omix and one crown; all 3 had stripped bolts after a few readjustments). Body mounts pictures; spoke with Energy Suspensions and ordered square leaf spring mounts with more give:

Headers Installed and Fitting for Mufflers:

Steering box Rebuilt and Installed (I loosened up the suspension and stood on the frame; the tie rod on the pitman shaft moves forward and does not interfere with the long tie rod):

Measured Engine Angle (the SBC 350 needs 3-7 degrees of angle):

    Frame Angle (-1 degrees):

Header Angle (7 degrees; net 6 degrees):

Intake Manifold Angle (3 degrees; net 2 degrees):

Engine angles should move -1 to -2 degrees after my transmission mount bushings come in as they are just a bit taller than the body mounts currently used.

This weekend I plan on getting the body back to my place and one final placement with cutouts for the headers then start painting. Decided to go with body color tinted U-Pol Raptor interior and underbody then body color single stage acrylic enamel. Windshield frame, windshield hinges, and roll bar will be black.

Thinking of a paint color. I'm leaning toward Patriot Blue but maybe a shade or two lighter. Trying to figure out what would go well with black and chrome. Any suggestions are welcome! No red, orange, yellow, or brown. Not what I'm looking for. Really blue or green. Have gone back and forth on a light blue...

If you are still undecided about the interior, take a look at the video of my Jeep in the Project Old Goat thread. It’s Chief Blue with a Color matched Raptor Lined interior and underbody, and black windshield frame and roll bar. It’ll give you an idea on how well the color matching works.

That's it. I chose paint and got everything sprayed. Let the hate commence but I like it and I'll be the one driving it. So let the haters hate.

I U-Pol Raptor'd everything. All body parts are Patriot Blue code 5522. Windshield, rollbar, hinges, and a couple other parts are black. I plan on painting the JEEP and WILLYS logos white as well as stenciling in the 4 Wheel Drive on the tailgate.

Body is back on the frame. Time to put all the parts back together.

Question - How high do the lower windshield hinges go on the body? The side piece flush with the body? My windshield doesn't want to sit down correctly with the weatherstripping on. I don't want to put too much force on the hinges and clamps.

Loaded the Jeep up on a trailer this morning. Taking it to get a VIN inspection for a bonded title.
