Sources for parts include most auto parts stores, Northern, Kanter, etc. Quality of parts depends on your intended use and how deep your pockets are. Good luck!

Old school machine shops are the best for these motors. You have to make sure they know what they are doing with decking the heads. I lost the machinist at the shop I've been using who knew everything, but at 89 the smoking finally caught up to him.

If you do a good rebuild, it should last most of your life time... and you can now even FI these things pretty easily.

Hey shack, I seen the rebuild kits and figured that would run 5- and up... not to sure of the quality of a 500 master kit...

    Thanks. Chris

This is what I would do but in the end you probably need a rebuild, especially if you already did a leak down. A broken skirt or piston means piston slop so plan on doing everything. Most important is to find a good machine shop. If there are any old service bulletins give them to the rebuilder. For example, the F134 had problems with certain aftermarket rear main seals and cam gear oiler. The shop may not be aware. We have an excellent machine shop in our area and because they will work you and guide you I did the assembly myself. If they are not helpful but do good work, let them assemble it and assume the liability.
