I bought this 1969 CJ5 on eBay about a year ago, pretty much sight unseen. The pictures look great, kind of like a ladies glamour photo shoot. A little make up here, a photo crop there, and voila! She's a beauty. Time will tell what I've gotten myself into. I've recently just really started to dig in. Had to have my garage door replaced and have a gas heater put in, otherwise the Chicago winters would stall the project.

Let me know if you have trouble viewing the link, I'm using Google drive.

    The adventure begins...

Looks like a great JEEP. 69 CJ5 with a 225 odd fire is about the best you can have for a great starting point. I bought mine new in 69 and drove it like I stole it for several years. Still got it, but where it was parked (inside) some a$$holes stripped most of everything that could be removed from it. The damn fools left the V6 and the Super T10 4 speed with the Hurst Super Shifter-but knew enough to take the taillights and front turn signals. Someday I will drag it up here to WA. from CA. where it sits. I would be interested in the vin #'s if you got them. WestCoastPat

Looks like a nice jeep, what are you wanting to change on it? What are your plans for it? We have some members that restore them to showroom quality, some that just keep them running for weekend use, some that use them as daily drivers, some that modify them to extreme off road use, etc etc.

I'm looking to make it a good daily/weekend driver, get it back to good condition, not great, i.e. showroom. The previous owner used a lot of various sheet metals to repair the floor and bed, lots of bondo, screws, bolts and aluminum panels. So far I've cut most of the front floor out. I ordered a new rear floor panel from Quadratec the other day, currently it's a large piece of thick steel sitting on two pieces of metal channel and angle iron, most of the body mounts were missing or replaced with hockey pucks. The gas tank was sitting on a piece of old rug, one spark and the whole thing was likely to blow. She runs really good, only a couple small coolant leaks from the expansion plugs, but no oil leaks I have seen so far.

    Things I'll be working on:
    Radiator
    11" Brake upgrade
    New dual master cylinder
    All new brake lines
    New floor front to rear
    Redo the entire dash
Fix lots of pinholes in the body

These are the pieces of the floor. The toolbox and transmission covers are original, most of the rest is aluminum plates, almost like cut up street signs.

    The rear bed...

Not sure what's going on behind the driver's seat.

I plated the inside and outside of my first jeep with street signs!!! Your jeep has the wheelhouse mod to allow the seat to be farther back.

Yes, I've seen the drivers seat mod. Not sure if I need it, I'm 5' 9"(and a 1/2!). The PO built up that area with the aluminum panels, so much that the fuel tank doesn't sit properly under the seat. I'm going to replace the rear floor and possibly the wheel wells. There's really no way to fix it.

I made my own mess that works well for me, but I suggest you buy pre made panels. There are some good suppliers and I am sure some of the people here can recommend one or 2

Pre made panels to be able to move the seat back? Who makes or sells them please?

No, floor panels. The wheelhouse notch is “custom”.

OP: you should edit all your previous posts and use the insert image utility--much easier and kinder than your external links. Plus, Google is not an entirely benevolent entity. :twist:

classic enterprises is often recommended...I used their floor panel and hat channel on mine. The quality and fit of the pieces was great...

Agreed, but I haven't quite figured that out yet. I've tried inserting various links, but all I get is a [IMG]

Truth be told, I was able to post your first image in post #14 on a PC and it showed up but on my iPad just now, it shows just an IMG tag.

    Lol! Oh well.

I'm going to create a gallery in hopes of making it better. Only issue is that you only get 100MB in the forum, meaning all files will need to be compressed, most image files are 4MB+. But I think I can get those down quite a bit and still get 200 or more pics in the gallery.

Yes, getting pics to post in here is quite the challenge. I've seen several posts on how to insert pics, but nothing seems to work. Or I haven't figured out the magic sequence. That's never out of the picture.
