The broken bolt came off with fingers once I had pump off. I might have been able to get it with a magnet or another way before I even took off the pump.

I put the water pump back on. Now on to oil pump. I heated the pump housing a bit last night. Today I sprayed the stuck screw with “freeze off”. Came loose right away.

    Advice needed here.
Do I use any RTV on this oil pump gasket or just pack the pump and screw it all back together?

The Oil pump is stuffed with petroleum jelly and back together. I removed some of the scoring on the cover with sanding. I ordered the tool to prime the pump from Jegs. Only $11 and worth knowing for sure that the oil is flowing when it starts next time.

On to the next little problem.... The transmission did buck around quite a bit when reversing with any power. I was missing the transfer case mount and the transmission cable mount. A member here sent me the little "L" bracket for the TC. As you know none of these old Jeeps are the same and the bracket seemed like it would work a lot better with the slight twist in the other direction. So I went and bent some steel I had on the rack to mirror the part I had.

Not only did I get the bends nearly perfect but the holes lined up really well the first time!!

The steel I had to make the new part is about 1/16 thinner than the part I had but it still seems very stiff and its only about 3" between the holes. I think it will be fine. Going to take it all apart and smooth the corners and paint it tonight.

    Small update,
Over the past weekend I did prime the oil pump. I also installed the carb, cooling hoses, hooked up the fuel pump and made things look tidy.

I decided that even though the clutch seemed to work fine I would put in a new clutch. I have no idea how old it is and I have a new one sitting on the shelf. I do know its going to be lots easier to do now without the tub on than later.

I need to buy a Boot, a spring and make some kind of simple bracket to hook the return spring to.

It was a little sticky coming apart....

And it was a little sticky going back together.....

But I have to take it apart again anyway. I feel so dumb, I forgot the fork and bearing!!

Wife gave me a great new toolbox for Christmas!! Got rid of two old smaller boxes and pretty much filled this one up.

Bought a similar husky last year 18 drawer. It’s been a good little box.

Little work got done over Christmas and New Years. Tried bench bleeding in the Jeep but I didn’t really think it was working so I took MC out and did it again.

Took a bit of time to get all lines flowing without bubbles but I think it’s good now.

With the brakes done I’m pretty sure the Jeep is mechanicaly ready to drive. So I pushed her outside and covered up the engine. Freeing up the garage to get back on body work.

I made a wooden stand with casters so I can move the tub around and outside easily.

A little touch up and painting missed area on the bottom. I should be able to get her on the stand tomorrow with some help.

    I'm sanding.
I say "I will not put any more filler on this".
I see a bad spot and add filler.
    I'm still sanding.
    I gotta stop.

The stand with casters is working great. It's real easy to spin around to good light and have the fan blowing out most of the dust.
