I like bumperettes (on my YJ and M38A1) mostly because they make a very handy step.

I even have an Australian wife, I should have just asked her. But then she would have come into the garage and laughed at my lack of progress.

What is this? It seems to go from a bolt to a fixed bracket. What does it do?

I spit my drink all over the keyboard. :D

It's for warp speed, isn't it?

You should remove it as soon as possible and report back.

She might've hurt your feelings but don't all those wise folks say that a man who makes his wife laugh has a happy marriage and all that?

Women love a funny man.

I bet her Australian accent is fabulous. . . .

I'm not entirely familiar with the AMC frames, but it looks like a bracket for a torque snubber. There should be a flat casting off the side of the front axle housing that would contact the rubber bumper (that goes) on that bracket under heavy braking (or axle wrap under heavy acceleration). It prevents the front driveshaft from coming in contact with anything during suspension cycling.

First post! Welcome to the forum!

Can anyone tell me if I am missing a bracket (where the high-tech pencil is pointing) for the floor support or my frame is like that? Is a 62 cj5. IMG_20181224_114528201-459x816.jpg

You are not missing a bracket, there is not one in that location on the driver side.

IIRC, there's not one there because the gas tank is above there. I guess they didn't want the bolt punching/rubbing through the tank.

I think you are correct. The deceptive thing about a bare frame or rolling chassis is how far back everything is. The back of the seats nearly line up above the rear axle!

Your name is Yoyodyne? That's very unusual.
